Cha to Gelato Zen is a wonderful little spot and pure magic along Kapahulu Avenue, serving as an incredible respite from the busyness of the day. This very authentic and super unique cafe primarily serves tea, drinks, and desserts in a cozy, inviting, and calming atmosphere. The interior is pretty with a woody and stone vibe, featuring lighter wood tones and soft lighting. It is the perfect place to chill out, catch up, or escape the town chaos.
The gelato tastes amazing, with unique and well-balanced flavors like chocolate hojicha, matcha, black sesame, and miso. The gelato is always creamy and tasty, not too sweet, and it is definitely hard to choose just two flavors. Specific desserts like the Matcha Anmitsu are delicious and addicting, featuring amazing gelato, a mochi ball, and sauce that are to die for. The attention to detail is fabulous.
Service is great, with patient, accommodating, and knowledgeable staff. The shop is a tiny place, and it is noted that customers are encouraged to order at least one item per person when dining in. Parking is the most chaotic part, relying on nearby street parking along Kapahulu or the side streets. Although the gelato is on the pricier side, it is well worth the money. This peaceful cafe is a must-try for its soothing atmosphere and wonderful desserts.
