Looks like what it is a hole in the wall, but the food is excellent.
Easily one of the better Chinese restaurants in Hawaii. They use Hong Kong style noodles and they have good flavor. They don't use MSG either.
I started working in this area three months ago and Mini Garden Express was recommended to me by my predecessor as a good value for occasional “staff” takeout dinners. I was warned, however, that there was an employee there who really hated itemized receipts. Sure enough, after sending a staff member to pick up dinner with the company debit card (which requires itemized receipts), he returned with four plates and an itemized receipt but he begged to never be sent there...read full review

Mini Garden Express | Chinese is a super casual fast food restaurant that has been a favorite since the mid-1970’s. They serve very good Chinese food, especially their noodle dishes, which are prepared in front of customers at the counter. The food is solid Cantonese and local food made fresh in large portions for reasonable prices. Portions are huge, and specific meals like brisket and tendon, beef broccoli and rice, minute chicken on soft noodles, won ton noodles, chow mien, and ginger chicken/char siu with rice are available. Orders are prepared quickly. The place is utilitarian with two seating areas inside, and customers order and pay at the counter with dishes brought in takeout containers. Service is friendly, caring, and more than adequate, with staff speaking loud in both Chinese and English. It is busy during Lunch & Dinner hours with lots of take outs. Call ahead and pick up is a good option. Plenty of parking is available, near the airport.
