About Nanzan Giro Giro

Nanzan Giro Giro is one of the four GIRO GIRO restaurants that offer an interesting chef's menu experience, whether you call it Kaiseki or Omakase. The food is consistently top-notch, with highly recommended dishes like the black cod with foie gras sauce rice, zucchini, and wasabi, as well as the sawara Japanese ono with kabocha sauce, eggplant, and tosazu vinegar jelly. The 6-course Kaiseki menu at $88 provides a delightful progression of flavors, from the starter dish to the rice and soup finale. The staff are some of the most friendly and knowledgeable, ensuring each guest feels well taken care of. The chef takes time to visit with each diner, making the experience even more special. Every dish was honestly the best on the island, with some of the best fish ever tasted. Each dish had premium ingredients like black cod, Hokkaido scallops, lobster, and snapper, and every bite was a flavor bomb. The open kitchen offers an interesting view of the staff working, though it can seem a bit chaotic at times. The restaurant’s overall atmosphere is vibrant, with a mix of music that can be a little distracting. While the bathrooms could use some improvements, the overall dining experience remains excellent, with attentive service and a monthly changing menu based on seasonal Japanese ingredients. For those considering the tasting menu, it is truly a special experience worth saving for.

Amazing dining experience.
By far my favorite dining experience in Honolulu. Staff, food, dishes, atmosphere and service are perfect.
We made reservations on a Friday for two birthday celebrations. The restaurant has a modern luxurious interior with most of the seats being at the wrap-around counter. It was my first time bringing two of my friends who haven't been before and we all enjoyed the food, the friendly service, the chef who came to chat with us and told us a particular dish is popular in Kyoto during summer, and they even helped us arrange our ordering so that our one friend who didn't get dessert...read full review
