I have been on this island for almost a year and I can honestly say, the meal I had for Mother's Day lunch at The Hive was the best meal I have had so far! This tiny cafe is quaint and unassuming, but the food is phenomenal! The menu, be it small, is mighty and flavourful! I cannot wait to come back to try more. I had the vegan avocado toast (I'm not vegan, I just thought it looked nice), and it was loaded with flavour. The Barista / Chef was lovely and the kitty was cute.

If I could give the food 6 stars I would. Not only are the ingredients island fresh organic, but some of their unique recipes I’ve never experienced. The pesto/honey flavor on the Sourdough Sando is bomb! This has been my go to spot while visiting. They have wifi. Front and back patio. Staff is friendly and it was nice getting to know the owner Elizabeth, who has such a beautiful story of blisters and bliss in how the Hive came into conception!

Kind staff. Coffee was okay. Had 2 coffee drinks for $18 and it just wasn’t worth that. They seemed to drastically hike up the prices of the specialty drinks without listing the price on the board to see before it’s time to pay. Additionally one of the coffee drinks had sediment from the spices and was poorly mixed, making it tough to drink.***I would like to add that the owner made her response to my review quite personal- seeming to throw punches at my “lactose intolerant boyfriend” but has since removed this part of her response which I find interesting. Furthermore, spices shouldn’t be sitting at the bottom of a latte (I am perfectly aware that the “sediment” was spice, but it should be incorporated better, who likes grit in the bottom of a cup?) And, the macadamia milk substitute price was listed on the menu, the prices of the speciality drinks are not, and should be.

What a beautiful little shop filled with positive energy!! The food is absolutely incredible and filled with fresh flavors (Gordon Ramsey would undoubtedly approve). The drinks are creative and delicious. The presentation of the food and drinks replicate art work, almost too beautiful to eat!! The staff and owner were hospitable and friendly. They have a really cool garden out back and you can tell the owner puts love into everything she does. I highly recommend The Hive! (such a cool name too ;))
