About Sunset Noodle House

Sunset Noodle House is a newer Kailua Town Center shop that has earned a regular spot in the rotation for ramen takeout. The bowls are consistent, filling, and better than a lot of the “close enough” ramen you can grab on the Windward side. The broth is the reason to order it—slow simmered for a rich flavor. Tonkotsu comes out creamy and porky, tan tan has that sesame heat you can bump up or down, and short rib ramen is the heavier option with beefy broth, tender meat, and the usual toppings like egg, green onion, bamboo, and mushrooms. Portions are generous enough that leftovers are common. Noodles hold up better than expected for takeout, and spice levels on tan tan are customizable. Combos with gyoza and kimchi are an easy add-on. The gyoza is bigger than most places with tons of crisp and actual pork/chicken, and the kimchi has actual sour taste and quality gochujang. Food comes out quite fast, and a dinner special with tonkotsu and fried pork chop ramen with gyoza and kimchi is $18.99. The fried rice is very tasty, the chicken Yakisoba and fried gyoza are really good, and the Unagi Rice includes a layer of soft scramble egg between rice and fish. The food is delicious, fresh, and huge portion, and the price is very reasonable. The owners are very nice, cool, and friendly. Service is quick and pleasant, though it could have been more attentive at times. Ambiance is cute, clean, and nice. It is an excellent place for a quick meal.
