The omakase was the best sushi ive had on island. So many different flavors all focused on the fish.
Unbelievable Omakase! Like eating in Japan, but in Maui! Truly a legit sushi experience. Almost all the fish & ingredients are either from Japan or local sourced. Truly a ‘must go’ on Maui. Can’t wait to go again!
Hachi by Oao was easily one of the highlights of our Maui trip.
I was looking for a local omakase experience for our anniversary and chose Hachi after reading reviews about how interactive the chefs are. Since it was my partner's first omakase, I wanted something special and it absolutely delivered.

Hachi by Oao is a high-end sushi gem hidden in an unassuming strip mall location, away from mediocre resort food. It offers an incredible omakase experience, with an 18-course omakase that is beautifully presented and thoughtfully paced. The fish is phenomenal, fresh, and tasty, with some sourced from Japan; the hamachi is noted as the best ever had. Many consider it the best sushi they have ever had, even better than renowned establishments.
The ambiance is great, quaint, and well-appointed. The service is top notch, fantastic, and incredible, with friendly, welcoming, and engaging chefs who take pride in their work and explain each dish. The experience feels special and fun without pretentious frill, reminding guests of omakase in Tokyo. It is totally worth the drive for this extra special dining experience. If reservations are unavailable, calling ahead is recommended. Highly recommend.
