Hard to find good decent place to eat in upcountry but Tun’s Kohima restaurant has good food, nice and cozy setting, menu is big, lots of options and friendly staffs!!

Based on the reviews, Tun’s Kojima Sushi and Japanese Cuisine is a gem located upcountry near First Hawaiian bank. It is a bit hidden from Makawao Avenue but has plenty of parking. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, a wonderful sushi bar, and daily specials. The service is exemplary and friendly. The food is unexpectedly awesome, delicious, and the best food ever had. The menu is diverse with a little bit of everything. Specific meals mentioned include the Haleakala Roll, spicy edamame, nigiris, crab rangoon, caterpillar roll, spicy ahi roll, miso butterfish, chicken katsu curry, tempura crab roll, sashimi platter, and bento plates. The miso butterfish came with miso soup and salad. The food is so good, though it can be a little expensive. It is a BYOB place, and customers can pick up drinks at Pukalani Superette just down the street. Takeout is easy to order through the Clover website with quick pickup. The small restaurant is cozy and quiet.
