Kawaihae Kitchen is a small, take out only spot that mainly caters to local working folks. The food is great quality, freshly made, and very reasonably priced. Everything on the menu is solid and tasty. Popular items include the Korean chicken salad, California roll, ahi roll, fish and chips, and Katsu chicken & fries. The chicken katsu combo platter comes with rice and mac salad, with unique special sauces. Bento boxes come with rice, daikon pickles, omelet, and a slice of Spam. Portion sizes are very generous. The wait time can be long for this popular place, but everything is well prepared. The view at the nearest park is definitely 5 star atmosphere. It is only open during lunch, but definitely worth the trip.
