“My family and I recently stopped at Smash Park in Des Moines on a whim for some family fun and food. The atmosphere was laid back and our kids thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor pickle ball courts and the arcade. Food, dessert and drinks were all crowd pleasers! And to go completely over the top, we left our blanket outside and Jerry answered my phone call, went outside to retrieve it from the bench where I left it, and mailed it back to me free of charge. In a world where kindness and customer support are harder and harder to come by, Jerry and Smash Park get a 10/10 from this family!!!“
“The owner is an absolute saint, he is so nice and a great human being! However, the bartender Megan Hampton is honestly the worst human being I’ve ever met in my life. She was rude to me the second I walked into the bar, then she screamed at me, I went to another bar, and the bartender said Megan did the exact same thing to her and her boyfriend. She openly talks about using cocaine and other inappropriate talk around the bar. She is single-handedly ruining the reputation and good name of Poncho. If you don’t believe me, sit at the bar when Megan is working and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.“

“They've really tried to change in the last 5 years or so. They offer daily special meals like steak night (mondays) and taco night (tuesdays). The steaks are legit some of the best I've ever had. Served with very well seasoned grilled onions and mushrooms.

“I love a good dive and this place checks all the boxes. Big TVs. Pool table. Golden tee. Cheap beer. Great deals. Wall of liquor. Slot machines. ATM. Regulars a dime a dozen, but you wouldn't trade a single one of them away. They have a roller dog machine, was not on while I was there. The bartender tolerates everyone guff and makes sure everyone's still laughing. 10/10“

“Stumbled on this place while just looking for the nearest spot for lunch, and what a happy accident! It just needs a bit more lighting/signage out front, since I almost drove right past it without noticing. But once inside, the ambiance is lovely, cozy and welcoming. I had the chicken pita and it was absolutely delicious. Service was great and the price is very reasonable for the quality. Give them a try, you won’t regret it!“

“We had the best time at Vista Pub this weekend! Showed up at 5:30 and had a hard time leaving at 11pm!! Food was delicious! We split pizzas, (big C & breakfast za), pretzel sticks, donuts, nachos, fries, and chicken tenders. Great atmosphere and the touch tunes were a fun touch! Drinks and food were fast and staff was really nice! Thanks for a great weekend Vista Pub!! We will be back!“

“Driving back to Denver from Chicago, this spot was recommended by a gal at my hotel. Rolled over to the moose late on a Monday and found myself at the bar. Struck up some great conversations with the bar tender and a few locals. Really appreciated the friendly and divey atmosphere. I would definitely come back if I am in Des Moines again.“

“Came in on a Saturday for a softball break. They only had ONE worker named Devina. Well she ended up being AWESOME. She tended our table of 12 and worked her butt. Luckily she had some kind gentlemen customers that jumped behind the bar and helped her out. She made us some of the best bar pizza I’ve ever had. Was a very pleasant surprised. I would highly recommend getting her some help before you lose her!!!“

I had an amazing experience at this bar, all thanks to Janie! From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. Not only is she super friendly, but she’s also a true expert when it comes to crafting drinks. She made the perfect cocktail tailored to my taste, and it was delicious. Throughout the night, she was attentive, efficient, and really made sure everyone had a great time. Janie is definitely one of the reasons I’ll keep coming back. Highly recommend her service if you’re ever here!“

“Our first time at Texas Roadhouse on Mills Civic Parkway.Our children had recommended it to us.Busy at 2pm Sat afternoon.Small wait.First thing I observed was the atmosphere.Very light-hearted and the employees actually seemed to really enjoy their workplace and the vast amount of patrons coming into eat. We were seated and almost immediately our server Maddi was there for our drink/ appetizer orders. There was some Birthday singing being done for various customer's special days.Food was served as soon as salads were done.Very nice salad almost like a mini main course salad.We had steak and barbecue chicken with steak fries and fresh vegetables.The dinner was excellent everything was fresh That was supposed to be fresh and the steaks were excellent done just right!!Everyone thanked us and wished us a good evening.I would recommend this Texas Roadhouse to anyone wishing to have a very good delicious reasonably priced meal.“

“We were stuck in Des Moines for the weekend and looking for something to do! So we had dinner down the parking lot from Shotgun Betty’s. Then we met a couple who were heading there. Well, we followed along. And had one of the best nights we’ve had in a long time. The people were great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was better than I would have expected. Truck driver from Texas so I know country bars. We had a blast and will be back if and when in the area. Also, my wife lost a bracelet so I reached out to see if it was found. They looked for it, found it and even shipped it Home. Thank y’all so much for showing me there are good people all over the country.“
