“My wife and I have been stopping here for years. Many of our early dates were playing pool when it went by another name. But the current management has great people working there, the food is awesome and well priced and if you can't have a good time there... that's on you.“
“Discover a delightful haven for your sweet cravings ? Personally, I can't resist the allure of the cheesecake baklava. Planning to return soon for some exquisite Bosnian/Turkish coffee paired with a heavenly slice of cake. Wholeheartedly recommend this place!“
“Perfect little place to be close to home love the atmosphere and they have a great bartender who works Sunday and Monday evenings super friendly I love the place. Clean and I like the big tv behind the bar there’s always something good to watch and usually a nice person to visit with! Thank you boathouse!! I recommend this place for sure!“
“I have been coming to the warehouse for 3 to 4 years and have had nothing but great service. Every time I visited this establishment! The bartenders are very quick to take your order even during the busy times!I have been coming to the warehouse for 3 to 4 years and have had nothing but great service. Every time I visited this establishment! The bartenders are very quick to take your order even during the busy times! The specials they have during the week great and everyone can benefit from them depending on your drink of choice. During the summer months, their outdoor patio is a great place to hang out and enjoy the sunshine. They also have umbrellas to protect you from the direct sunlight if that's what you wish. There are at least 8 to 10 large screen TVs to enjoy your favorite sports, etc. I would highly recommend the warehouse. If you are looking for somewhere that is clean, great customer service, and they do serve a very good pizza!Ashley, Carol, Holly, Sherry are the four bartenders that I have had the most interactions with, and all four of them are great at their jobs. Somehow they remember everyone's names:)“
“Nice Place, needs some work but this obviously takes time. These folks have what could be a Nice Bar, but also could be a Weekend Club as well. If they put in a sound system / DJ booth and dance floor area, " nothing fancy is needed," and there is room so why not take this place to it's full potential?? Wouldn't take a lot of money either, but you have a potential gold mine sitting there.....Wheelchair accessibility: This is a bar with a couple pool tables and dart boards. But could be so much more.“
“Came in for a quick bite to eat but slow service prevented the quick part. However, the food was pretty good. I had the French dip and there was plenty of beef. The fries were plain if you don't like seasoned. All other sides is extra $. Someone at the table ordered the plain cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. They said it was ok, nothing special. We both received plenty of fries which was nice. The place was loud but we were still able to hear each other at the table with no difficulty. There are several TVs if you are interested in seeing a game, it looked like every seat had a good view.“
“Nice happy hour, gorgeous aesthetic, welcoming and comfy atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff. Loved it! (And the bathrooms are super cute and super clean!)Parking: Street parking on Ingersoll is hit or miss on availability, but side streets and small free lots are also available nearby.“
“This bar is lost in time. I mean this in the most fantastic way. Jukebox by the pool table couple pinball games and amazing bar food. Like classic bar food, not the new age, frozen pizza, and hamburger patties bar food good Ole classic real made bar food.“
“Thank you Carlos and everyone from Toreados! I finished everything and I'm already full ? The service is very excellent and everyone is very friendly ? They didn't have Apple Pay but they will accept card numbers that still work to pay! I hope this review makes a difference and compensates for my loss!“
“This was a nice, chill retro bar in the downtown area of Des Moines. The service was awesome. Our waitress was quite attentive. They have a large assortment of craft cocktails. I chose to stick with my regular staples, either an old fashioned or their penicillin. I loved the neon signs which I've attached to this review.“
“I come here pretty frequently. Ricochet is always a great place to be, best Barcade in Des Moines for sure. Lots of fun games and the bartender was completely on top of it even though they were dealing with a pretty big party. If they had food I'd never leave!“
“The whole experience from top to bottom is an absolute “SMASH”. The bar staff, and specifically Alyssa, are top shelf. She was fun, had a good knowledge of all the beers on tap, and was never too far when you needed a refill. I’d give em 10 stars if I could!“
“My daughter and I were having a fun night and stopped by RoCa to grab a bite before Les Mis. The drink, called aptly I dreamed a dream, was the best cocktail we’d ever had! Plus the Asian lettuce wraps and Fig and goat cheese flatbread were both scrumptious. Special thanks to the bartender who was so kind.“
“We stopped in on an unexpectedly busy Tuesday evening during their Nice List holiday takeover. The guys working worked their butts off to keep up with the rush and did a great job. We always enjoy the drinks here and especially love their dog friendly patio in the summer!“
“The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great. HOWEVER, our server was EXCEPTIONAL. In most cases, wait staff will make or break an experience for fine dining. Charismatic, friendly, and helpful was what we got tonight. We don’t make it out to the Waukee area often but I’m so glad we did tonight! Thank you Lauren for a special night out.You went above and beyond to make our experience one that we absolutely couldn’t forget. :)“
“Celiac safe!!!! I was so excited when I learned this! I was diagnosed a few months ago and I haven’t been able to eat out since. I finally had a girls night and it was incredible! No anxiety around eating (iykyk) and everything was sooo delicious. Will definitely be going back!“
“This review is for 3.5 stars. This place has been on my list of places to try for a while so my husband and I ate dinner here last night. We both thought the food was good but priced higher than it should be for what we got.I got the CFD Burger and my husband got the Mojo Pork Sandwich and while we thought they were both fine, we felt a little underwhelmed for how much they cost. My burger was $14 and the pork sandwich was $16 and neither one came with fries or a side. The side fries were $4, which I got. I checked their website before we went there and the website price for the fries was $3, not $4. I really hate when restaurants change the price of things on the menu but don't update the menu on their website. My burger was good but not amazing. Their sauce in It reminded me of a Big Mac. I feel like I have gotten just as good hamburgers from Smashburger or Zombie Burger for much less money. My husband said he was expecting more flavor with his sandwich. It tasted good but didn't wow him. I guess we just expected more because the chef is a James Beard Award nominee. We thought the flavors would be much better than food you can find elsewhere.I also feel that burgers and sandwiches should always come with a side. Neither the burger nor the sandwich was very big. There's no way either one alone would fill you up. I don't know anyone who would order a burger without getting fries or some other side. However, I will say that the fries were very good. They were light and crispy and didn't taste like they were frozen from a bag. They were just slightly warm, though, and not piping hot. They were still tasty though. All the employees we dealt with were friendly and nice. Our server, though, disappeared after we got our food. She never checked on us to ask how things were. I didn't get very much ketchup for my fries and I was looking all over the room for her to ask for more ketchup. When I finally found her, I was halfway done with my food. The place looks amazing and definitely looks like an upscale modern diner. The decor and furnishings are beautiful. Everything looks well thought out. I don't think we will be back again any time soon, though. The food didn't impress us enough to try it again for what they're charging.“
“The flour taco is by far the best!!! We don't frequent often as we really can only do a date night. We have came on a weekend with kids and they enjoyed the food but really not very family friendslly with seating choices and it just the darkness. No kids meals. But if the main aspect is more of a bar I totally understand and respect that. Also the blonde bartender/server rocks it. And so friendly.“
“A cozy local bar with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is fairly small, but the offered choices taste great and they have some daily specials. If you love Iowa-style PORK TENDERLOIN SANDWICHES, you'll want to check their's out. The breading tastes correct, not like they used pepper-spiced fried chicken breading. Also, the oil is used primarily for tenderloins and fries so it doesn't have the undesirable subflavors imparted from onion rings or fish. And the food and beverages come at very reasonable prices!“
“It was our first time trying this place and we loved the food and Juan's service was great, from the moment he saw us thinking about what to order he was more than willing to help us and recommend what to try. Thanks to him we had a very nice experience“
“Stopped in for a bite to eat with some co-workers. The atmosphere was very welcoming, an at home sit down kind of place to watch sports TV. The theme through out the bar was baseball for the most part. I got a bacon burger with loaded fries, it was very delicious. If I'm back in the area I will definitely go again! The staff were very respectful and helpful for sure.“
“My wife and I had a great experience. It was evident that the cocktails were made by someone who takes pride in their craft. The service was exceptional. Laid back and easy-going atmosphere for 5pm on a Friday. We didn’t try any of the small plates, but they looked good as they came out of the kitchen.“
“I was celebrating my birthday last weekend and we ended up here an stayed until closing time. This place is incredible. It makes you feel like a kid again but with alcohol lol They have a bar on both levels and video games, pinball, skeeball, table team games, photo booth, huge pizza by the slice for $6, very nice and awesome bar tenders, well staffed, retro vibes for days and not enough good things can be said. I'd come back every week if I could honestly. Hidden gem of Iowa. Adults only, yes please.“
“Been going here for 18+ years - great place to sit on the enclosed and (occasionally) heated patio to smoke a cigar.Bartenders are friendly and the owner Bryan is working his a$$ off to make Duck a fun place to hang out.Come check it out and join the family...!“
“Always a fun place to hang out with friends after work. They have great food and cold drinks. Atmosphere is amazing! It is worth to at least try it once, you will be back.Parking: It does get tight for parking. Plenty of street parking. Park next to them or go just a little east and park there.“
“Capt Roy’s is my go to place when cycling or driving. Great food in a comfortable atmosphere. The best trivia in town, with format that doesn’t allow internet look-ups. Fun to be by the water and bands all year long on weekends. Locally owned. What more could you ask for? Come check it out!“
“A week or so ago my family placed a large online order. My wife picked the order up and brought it home. When we got everything separated we realized some items were missing. Both my wife and I tried calling the restaurant several times due to living 20-plus minutes away but could only get a busy signal. My wife ended up going back to the restaurant. The young lady my wife spoke with was very apologetic about the entire situation and extremely kind. Despite having to go back for a couple of things, the young lady's handling of the situation and the food being great more than made up for everything. We will for sure return in the future.“
“Ninja Ramen Sushi is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience delicious Japanese cuisine in Waukee plus served with a side of hospitality. The owners, who are truly amazing people, go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and appreciated. Food are delicious!“
“Had a good time with friends, staff was friendly and have AMAZING patience. It got crowed quickly, with a very diverse crowd. Definitely meet some interesting people. Ella and the other bartender (didn't catch his name but he was a big guy with a beard) are probably some of the most efficient bartenders I ever saw in action. You guys rock! 5 STARS“
“I really enjoyed the vibe here and the cocktails are good and reasonably priced. I had a Manhattan, $10. The dimly lit room, local art and music are fun. Of course, the actual "lift" is the centerpiece. Definitely a great spot in a great city.“
“The east side of the river really isn’t dirty anymore. It’s been gentrified with your typical cookie cutter businesses and people. I enjoyed my Saturday afternoon visit. The prices are typical with the area. The bartender was on point and it wasn’t to sticky. For me the ambience wasn’t what I expected. Numerous bachelorette parties and those people that ride that drinking wagon thing came and went. A privileged frat boy sorority girl feel but maybe it was just the day. Without the patio I don’t think I’d bother with the place and I wonder what happens in the winter 3/4s of their seating disappears. I’ll swing in again to enjoy a nice patio evening but maybe on a weekday instead.“
“We have been there numerous times for Wednesday steak night and a couple taco Tuesdays, every meal has fantastic!!!!! The staff are very welcoming and accommodating! We have only had one issue with our food and it was corrected immediately! Absolutely will be going again!“
“Cheese Bar is my favorite restaurant. I like it for the friendly staff, excellent service, knowledgeable chef, and of course delicious food. They clearly train their people well and are all very kind and relaxed. Their food and beverages have been consistently well prepared and tasty for over 6 years. I love it!“
“Great local bar. The staff really take care of you and make you feel at home. The atmosphere is great and they have many great specials. Gotta love the drink tokens! Who doesn't love getting something back for spending your money?? Wondering what I am talking about? Go to the Moose and find out for yourself, you won't be disappointed!!!“
“I had to fast all day to have my blood drawn for my physical exam. I was STARVING! So, my first & only meal all day was here! So good! Plus The Old Creamary ice cream next door. Yum! (I don't think this food & drink boosted my Cholesterol #s in the right direction!)“
“This is the best bar in the metro. Your average patron varies between bikers, hippies, and people in the service industry. The drinks are cheap and good, but the atmosphere is second to none. They also are the only place in town to get food late night as they serve tacos until 1:30-2“
“Well I haven't been here in over 20 years but it hasn't changed one single bit. The dogs are still playing cards and pool on the walls and the booths are the same just a whole lot more worn. Actually the booth had a huge hole in the seat that you could see clear to the floor. The seating was missing tiles and you could see large holes in the ceiling too. It really didn't bother me because you expect this here...it was however the first time I have ever been here with the lights turned up. It definitely needs to have the light on much lower... The only other thing is the back door you have to enter from since the city removed most of the parking. It is so dangerous. The concrete is deteriorating and broken and the steps are very scary. I suspect people fall back there regularly...But over all it brought back fond memories of times long ago!!!“
“We stopped in for one drink on Labor Day Sunday. There were only about 8 people there and they all seemed to be regulars. Everyone was kind, service was good and the drinks were tasty. It's a small quaint bar. Only one bathroom (toilet) in the girls restroom.“
“We had a hungry crew with us, 6 adults and 4 children. The waiter was patient with us and kept us up to date on how soon our order would make it to the grill. They have a small kitchen, but the cook creates big results from it. The food was fabulous! We had Burgers, chicken, patty melts, sausage, and every deep-fried veggie on the menu. My 4yo ate the 2nd half of his plain hamburger the next day and stated, "they did a good job of this." If that's not high praise, idk what is.“
“Explosive Experience at the Bomb Bar!I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Bomb Bar, and I must say, it was an absolute blast! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm and pop corn. However, what truly set this experience apart was the exceptional service provided by Kristine, the amazing bartender.Kristin's skills behind the bar were nothing short of impressive. Not only did she craft the most delicious cocktails I've ever tasted, but her attention to detail and passion for mixology truly shone through in every drink she made. Each sip was a delightful explosion of flavor, leaving me eager to try more of her creations. What truly stood out, though, was Kristin's engaging personality and genuine interest in ensuring that every customer had a fantastic time. Her friendly demeanor and expert knowledge of the drink menu made for an unforgettable experience. Whether it was recommending the perfect drink or sharing fascinating stories about the bar's history, Kristine went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and valued as a patron. The ambiance of the Bomb Bar was equally impressive, with its stylish dive bar decor and lively atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can unwind after a long day or celebrate a special occasion with friends. And with Kristine at the helm, you can trust that your time there will be nothing short of extraordinary.Overall, my experience at the Bomb Bar exceeded all expectations, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Kristine and her guest who loved her. If you're looking for a truly memorable night out, I highly recommend paying a visit to this hidden gem. You won't be disappointed!“
“This place is a dive in all the right ways! Bartenders seem to handle a crowd well and I never wait long for a drink. I appreciate that. Tuesday open mic is always fun but loud if you are trying to visit. Might take it to the back room or out front or back. Wings on Wednesday happy hour from the Keg Stand hit the spot. Can't say more or too many people will show up. Have to leave your mark and sign the wall somewhere. Seems like everyone in town has“
“Great bartender! He's always been super friendly and engaging whenever my group comes through. The whole atmosphere up there is really cool and the beers they have are great. Love going here to try some new imported beer I've never heard of. I typically eat downstairs at the Royal Mile, then head up here for a couple drinks. Definitely recommend making the trip downtown for this place.“
“I always love coming here. The environment always calls for good vibes. Anna is awesome and quick with drinks and making sure we are taken care of! Brooke is always on top of getting drinks out in a timely manner. Staff overall just makes sure everyone is having a good time. The option to be able to dj the bar yourself is awesome too. We love tonic❤️❤️❤️“
“Pizza is awesome. And for pub food, very good!! Detailed on ingredients and sauces. Sometimes gets crazy if bartender is also cooking, but Service is always on. With a smile too. Great neighborhood place. And always a game to play, like cribbage or yatzee.“
“A nice little bar. Great conversations. Friendly bartenders but they'll kick you out if you're trouble. Loud music on the Touchtunes / jukebox. 5 overhead flat-screen TVs. No food served but chips are available for purchase. Might even see an occasional Amishman come in and sell naked goods.. Pool table for those so inclined. Nice little place. Come on down to sit at the bar and read a book.“
“Tried to come here twice and had no good luck. Third time is the charm! Had an incredible experience with our server Deaja. Would recommend starting with the Brussels Sprouts followed by a burger, either the Hit Corner or the Mushroom Swiss. Don’t forget to upgrade to the Truffle Fries!!“
“First time there, I had the burger with Guda and bacon, Bacon was thick and caramelized, Burger was cooked exactly as I asked for it. Stake fries were alot thinner and a stake fry and crispy. Wife had the loaded nachos with Chicken, she was very impressed.. We will be back!“
“Went on Wednesday for the pizza special, buy a large specialty and get a medium two topping free! Service was fast, friendly, and interactive. Drinks were refilled in a timely, friendly m manner. Pizza is a thin cracker crust, toppings were just the right amount!“
“I stumbled upon this bar on my trip across country recently. I stopped mainly because I run a fantasy football league, with GOAT as the main theme.Got there just in time to catch the end of a football game had some great food and really rich bar staff.“
“Average bar with room for 20 or so at bar , tv for ball games easy to see. Barmaid was pleasant. Was there on Sat at 4 pm for fundraising event for Dog rescue company. Didn't order anything to eat since they were walking around with fish , tater tots etc they were cooking out back. Didn't look out back but it looks like there's an area where you can go out there probably good for the summer months.“
