Arugala & Rye at the Des Moines airport flips the usual expectations of airport food upside down. Airport food has a reputation for being overpriced and underwhelming, but this spot doesn't fit that mold at all. It's a casual setup with plenty of seating, and the window seats come with a clear view of the tarmac; nice bonus if you enjoy watching planes come and go while you eat.

I LOVE this place! I’ve been visiting my grandparents in Des Moines for years, and this is the best restaurant in the airport. The food is delicious, they have great beverage options and the staff is accommodating. Jesenya was our cashier and they were so helpful :)
