“Food: Everything we’ve ever ordered has been astounding! All of the food is fresh, hot, and full of flavor. Portion size is great as well! I love the bread options their store offers also. The quesabirrias tacos are a favorite go to! They also provide lime wedges, radish slices, roasted peppers, and roasted onion with the tacos. The fresh, crisp cilantro is the “cherry” on top lol. Service: Every time we go in there, we’re greeted with a smile! All of the employees are really friendly, patient, and helpful. They do their best to explain something on the menu if you’re not fluent in Spanish/don’t know what something is or consists of. They’re very quick and efficient. Ambiance: A quaint, quiet store/restaurant full of delicious options and amazing smells. It’s kept clean and tidy with medium noise pollution: there’s typically a TV playing in the dining area or music playing throughout the space. The seating is cozy; more for 2-4 people at a table/booth, as opposed to large parties. Pics in comments 👇🏻”

“Ames is so lucky to have this wonderful bakery here on Main Street! We especially like the multi grain and traditional rye breads, and we are just starting to try their cakes and pastries. Everything we have had is delicious and the quality you would find in a fine European pastry shop. We split a piece of the Kyiv cake for dessert this evening, and it was excellent. Highly recommended!”

“As a queer and trans person, lately when coming down to Ames I’ve felt a bit skittish in public. I also have celiac (gluten free) and my wife has a dairy allergy so finding food in town can be a challenge to say the least. In this context, Lockwood truly felt like an oasis of sorts. I want to sincerely thank them for their work to cultivate the space they have and to thank them for giving me hope for the future of Ames itself. I feel truly seen in a positive way for once!”

“This restaurant is my guilty pleasure food to eat. Pancakes are something I would never go to a restaurant for but OHH!!! These pancakes taste like dessert! Everything I’ve tried has been great. Prices are fabulous. Staff are friendly. Service is quick. Haven’t tried the non-breakfast items but why would you when there’s PANCAKES! Only negative is they aren’t open for dinner during the week. Oh and the coffee drinks are great.”

“Hilton Coliseum is an amazing place to catch a game. I saw a girls’ basketball game there, and everything was incredible, from the atmosphere and energy of the fans to the seating and overall experience. Definitely a top notch venue for sports events.”

Brisket was so juicy and Omgoodness melt in your mouth tender (without being mushy) hubs devoured huge portion of the Briskey Dipper also 10:10! Jalapeño hush puppies with a spicy aïoli & hallelujah potatoes were nice balance with the meats! Never could eat it all in one meal that just means we’re also enjoying today! So juicy it warms up nicely! Highly recommend can’t wait to go back and try more menu items!”

“5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ To start, the food is amazing! Each dish was incredible! Everything had so much flavor and was put together very well. Portion sizes are great for the price as well. The chicken was super tender and juicy with just the right amount of teriyaki sauce, in my opinion. Each sushi roll was put together very well with equal proportions. Not too much of one ingredient to overpower the rest. The dumplings were delicious and perfectly crispy on the outside. Not to mention the sauce that came with them was to die for! The service was great! Our waitress was very patient and helped us figure out what appetizers to get, since it was our first time in. She explained everything in detail and her recommendations were perfect! She even made our drinks (I forgot to get a picture of the strawberry lemonade) and they were awesome! Inside wasn’t too loud or crowded and it’s laid out quite nicely. There’s even outdoor seating, which isn’t neglected by the wait staff. Some places tend to “forget” about the customers outside but they didn’t do that here. All of the staff were attentive and polite.
