“I LOVE everything about this business! All of the original goodies are the exact same as the previous owner make, down to the ingredients and brands, but the new owner came in and updated the building, along with adding some new and exciting goodies. Everything is so clean and updated now, with a wider selection of goodies that the new owner introduced in addition to the old classics. New treats are introduced almost weekly and they are all so tasty! Kudos to the new owner for keeping the same old classics we all love and breathing new life into it at the same time!“

“Wonderful food but slightly crowded. There is a reason this place is so busy. Highly recommend the turkey club with extra avocado. Food is actually very low priced for the high quality. Staff are rushing to keep up with the large lines and people walking out with several boxes of the delicious pastries. Don't miss the chance to enjoy this little gems exquisite food. Come early though cause it goes fast.“

“It’s Easter Week, why not celebrate the resurrection with good treats. This place does not sale pies, but they have a host of creatively tasty cupcakes and cookies $3 and up, very reasonable locally owned establishment. Parking is street only, but well worth the hunt. They even have vegan cupcakes—yum!“

“Stopped in at the Urbandale location today to place two separate orders both for 2 doz donuts. Not only were the ladies both helpful, but they're kind and generous. I'd been having a rough couple of weeks and both ladies paid me just a simple complement on my outfit. Little do they know that small act of kindness not only boosted my confidence, but they helped me see myself in a better light. Also the donuts are amazing, the location is spotlessly clean. Looking forward to stopping in again.“

“CC is expensive, no question. But, these are not just any cookie. Personally,I think they are worth the money as a treat. I would not recommend this place as the place to get kids treats for school etc. The menu has a select set menu and then daily selections.“
“Mexican bread is great!! A bit pricey but good overall. They have a little bit of everything and the best part is they have a food side where you can order food like burritos or containers of rice, beans, chicken or beef, chicharrones and more.“

“Absolutely the best bagels we have had in Iowa. They were so quick to get our order out, and despite the limited seating, someone had left just a few minutes after we ordered. It was fun to enjoy our brunch there on a busy Saturday. We will be returning!!“

“Nestled in Urbandale, Coaches Kolaches is not just a bakery; it's a haven for those seeking exceptional flavors and warm hospitality. The owner, who embodies the spirit of Texas hospitality, always greets customers with a smile and ensures everyone leaves satisfied. The pastries here are more than just food; they're a culinary journey. From traditional Czech pastries with a Texas twist to innovative flavor combinations, each bite is a delightful surprise. Personally, my taste buds dance with joy at the first bite of the Jalapeno Sausage Kolache, a spicy yet savory delight that never disappoints. Supporting local businesses like Coaches Kolaches isn't just about enjoying delicious food; it's about investing in your community. So next time you're in Urbandale, give this gem your business. You won't be disappointed!“

“We bought 4 cakes for a Quinceañera, one was a three tier, and they were exactly what we wanted and beautiful! We had tried some of the other well-known cake shops, this one tasted the best, hands down. They were delivered and setup on time at the event center, held up wonderfully, icing tasted awesome, and cake itself was moist and not dry at all. Everyone was raving about that cake!We bought 4 cakes for a Quinceañera, one with three tiers, and they were exactly what we wanted and very pretty! We have tried a few other cake shops and this is the best. They delivered and placed the cakes in the living room before the party, the cakes were very pretty the entire time, and very good tasting. Everyone was saying how tasty the cake was, everyone liked it, very satisfied, excellent!“
“We go out of our way to visit / order from the Beaverdale Fareway Meat Market! This is one of few places in the Des Moines Metro where you can find Boar's Head Lunchmeat (freshly cut). It lasts much longer than other grocer's lunchmeat! The pick-up service is amazing every time. Staff is all super friendly and helpful. Fruits / Veggies never disappoint, and usually less than Hy-Vee. Love this place. We will continue to frequent and recommend to others!“

“I ran in and picked up an assortment of cakes for our family Christmas in early January. They were so good my mom came back a week or so later to get some for a birthday party. 10/10 the cake flavors were SO good! And getting several meant you could mix slices of each. My favorite pairing was a slice of the lemon with a slice of the strawberry and cream. I will purchase again!“
“We are HUGE fans of Echo's Cookies. They've made birthday cakes for our family and each time we're asked where we got the cake from because they look great and taste better. We've also ordered cinnamon rolls to drop off at offices and the response is the same as with the cakes. Awesome, friendly staff. Could not rave more about them.“
“I'm so excited to finally have a bakery in the neighborhood! I've stopped in once so far and was met by charming service and buttery pastries--especially the fruit custard croissant! I'm looking forward to becoming a regular!“

“Quick breakfast. There was a line at the door when they opened at 8 am. We were all greeted and seated in a friendly and fast manner. 1 waitress efficiently managed everything and got drinks and orders within minutes. I was very impressed. I ordered a skillet and pancakes. The cakes were delicious but the skillet was on the greasy side. It was fresh, just too oily for my tastes. I ate about half of it. The coffee was hot and black, not my favorite flavor but it worked.“

“My first impression of this shop was how tidy, welcoming, and clean it was! The staff immediately greeted me and told me to take my time picking something out (even though they were supposed to close in 5 minutes). I picked out an assortment of goodies, and they didn't disappoint. This place is a hidden gem!!“
“I am fairly new to the Des Moines area, but what I do enjoy is the small town charm in a big city, which includes finding a local bakery to get fresh bread. I found this charming bakery named Big Sky Bread near my home and finally found what I've been searching for! The parking lot is to the left of the bakery, and when you enter, there are a few racks of bread loaves, homemade granola, local jam/honey, and pastries. I tried the Italian loaf, German rye sliced bread, their very own pop tarts, and cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. I forgot to take a picture, but they were all very beautifully made. The owner/cashier Terry was kind and let me know they also have a booth in the Downtown Farmer's Market in May. I am excited to return again for a restock in the near future. Thanks, Terry!Parking: Free parking lot to the left when facing the bakery“

“This is the best donut shop in Des Moines. The donuts are delicious, the staff is always unfailingly friendly and gives my little boys free donut holes. The prices are extremely reasonable. I love this place.Kid-friendliness: They are very kid friendly“
