“While driving through Iowa, we wanted to stop for coffee. Boxcar’s Cafe in Hoosiers was a great choice!

We got a cup of coffee to go along with a freshly baked cinnamon roll and we were helped by 2 lovely women.

We were glad to have made our way into Hoskins to find this charming cafe.“

“Cooks Cafe’ is great bc you can have breakfast all day if you want or not. Their menu has a truck stop variety of foods. Very Americana. Everyone is very friendly. The coffee is great tasting! They have daily specials, n pie of the month! It is a family friendly place to eat, with an awesome buffet on Sundays. They have two private rooms for parties with one main dining area for the public. Their Oran burger is huge but delicious n keeps my husband Bob n I coming back for more! “

“Went here randomly with a few friends in search of some chicken and had the BEST server/bartender I’ve ever met. She’s HONEST and DAMN GOOD! Food and drinks were great but it’s so hard to find good employees… I tried to hire her on the spot! Employees make the business and I’d drive that hour to see her anytime. Shawna!!! If your boss doesn’t recognize this, COME FIND ME!!!“

Steak Tips

“It was the most terrible meal my wife son and I have ever eaten anywhere in the world to date. The so called beef meal was a freezer burnt Philly steak sandwich meat. That's right the frozen steaks that come in the little black vacuum sealed bag that's what we were served basically boiled, didn't have grill marks or anything. The waitress said, when she was asking what did we want, beef pork or chicken we asked her what kind of beef she goes I don't know it's just like some kind of roasted beef. Didn't get a refill. Two hours there and I was never asked if I wanted to refill. I've been a cook in many establishments and I definitely know what Philly steak sandwich meat is and they should not be serving that as so-called slow roasted beef. Then I was told it was fresh from fareway and it was definitely not. My wifes "beef" was black and brown and shiny it looked absolutely nothing like mine it was freezer burnt for sure. The salad was a tiny bowl of lettuce with some cheese on it. You can find a better food at the gas station across the street 10 times better. My son 13 year old son who loves meat wouldn't even finish it and said it tasted like tuna. I didn't think it tasted like tuna but it definitely had the exact same texture as canned tuna. to me it tasted like old canned meat. We will never go there again and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.“
