“I wish I could remember our waiters name because he was so incredibly kind! I brought in my kids and their friends for a birthday supper tonight as a last minute change of plans and I’m so glad I did. Not only was the food a huge hit (they all said best they’ve ever had) and the service incredible.. he rounded up a group of staff to sing Happy Birthday to my kids (as a last minute request from me) and the entire restaurant ended up joining. I was already a repeat customer but even more so now. Thank you thank you thank you for making their 14th birthday just a bit more special!”

“Stopped for a late lunch. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. My tenderloin was delicious, not pounded thin, but with excellent flavor and cooked to perfection. Coleslaw was crisp and cold with a creamy dressing. The brownie for dessert came with 2 dips of ice cream and was huge.”

“My wife and I really enjoy visiting Bremer Brewery. They have a great variety of beers so you are sure to find something you like no matter your beer preference. They also have other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options. The food is great and they switch it up from time to time with menu specials. If you want more than beer and food they host fun events like trivia night or live music each month. We have never been disappointed.”

“Our recent trip to Waterloo was topped off by a fantastic dining experience at D&K Hickory House restaurant. Thanks to a Google search of nearby restaurants, we stumbled on this "hidden treasure", and we're absolutely blown away. From the fast and courteous service by Cindy, our amazing server, to the final farewell from the owners daughter ( sorry, I didn't catch her name), this place hit it out of the park. My wife and I ordered salads with bleu cheese dressing, and were expecting the standard, generic dressing that attempts to taste like the real thing..WOW, were we wrong!! What we received was a homemade dressing with big chunks of real bleu cheese in a tangy-sweet mixture that left us wanting more. When I commented to Cindy, that it was the best I had tasted, she suggested we try the creamy garlic, also homemade, and she brought us a sample to try...another Home Run !!. When our entrees arrived, which was surprisingly quick for a Saturday night, we were again, incredibly impressed. I had the rib dinner, with hash browns. The ribs were tender, tangy, and literally falling off the bone. As a BBQ junkie, I was in 7th Heaven. My wife opted for the fried shrimp and they were cooked to perfection. The meals also came with choice of potato, a basket with dinner rolls and crackers, and a small relish tray...all very tasty . When Cindy brought our bill, she offered us a brief history of the place, and it sounds like citizens of Waterloo/Cedar Falls have been enjoying this local joint for over 70 years...very impressive. All in all, this was one of the highlights of our visit, and we will be sure to return again, the next time we are in the area. Two things to consider before visiting, they take cash & check only...no electronic payment...no problem...and, you would be wise to call first for reservation.. Truly a memorable meal and dining experience. 5 stars all around !!”

Their blended drinks are top-notch; the raspberry white mocha is my personal go-to, rich and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. My wife has her own signature order that I’ve memorized after countless trips—it’s that kind of place where you find your drink and never look back... unless they break out something seasonal or are experimenting with a new beverage, then I always love being a guinea pig. 😅

Beyond the drinks, I love the cozy, inviting atmosphere. The shelves of books give it an eclectic feel, and it’s one of the few coffee shops where I can truly focus and get work done for hours. Even though I’ve been able to do some work from home for over a year, I make a point to stop by regularly—it’s my productivity haven and caffeine fix all in one.”
