“Octopus is a bit of an institution: following in the footsteps of places like Steb's and Pour Richards. Dave is a huge supporter of local and regional musical artists of all shapes and sizes. There's always a cheap beer for those with just a few bucks in their pocket; and plenty of crafts for a few bucks more. They recently expanded their space adding some food items in the process. Popcorn is always available for those with munchies. Lots of regulars for sure. Guests should feel welcome. If you don't bump into a friend...you can quickly make one at the bar. “Enjoyed my first visit to Berk's. We were there in the late afternoon and it was mostly an older crowd like ourselves. I understand that late in the evening it gets more lively with the college students. It was very pleasant, the bartender was friendly, the environment was peaceful at that time of day. The other bar patrons were friendly. They have comfortable upholstered bar stools as well as table seating. There are bags of snacks that you can buy.“

“Are there nicer bars in town? Sure. Are there better bars in town? No way.This is a great bar with a great atmosphere. It's dimly lit, usually reasonably quiet (as bars go), and a little trashy (but in a good way). On the main floor you'll find the bar, a shuffleboard table, darts, jukebox, a couple tables to sit at, and good people. This bar has a lot of traditions and respect for its long time patrons. They often run contests for their guests like the big March Madness shot bracket, measured each night when two shots compete for orders. The second level sports a free pool table on one side, and a lounge area with leather couches on the other side.The bartenders are always friendly and prompt, and there is good conversation to be had with other patrons.OK beer selection, lots of fruity and cider options, but also a good array of heavy beers. I enjoyed a hazy Sierra Nevada IPA and then several Odell 90 Shillings.My friends and I also appreciated the relatively private area for smoking out back.“

“After we were seated, it took a while to be served, and before we could order. The food was great, and the atmosphere was spot on. They have a nice vibe with old gas pumps and ski ball! I would definitely come here again. We got the horney burger, and by the time we got it, I forgot all that was on it... so mich was on it.“

“Normally our time goes well when we go to Brass Tap in Cedar Falls. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience on our most recent visit, Friday June 7th, 7:00pm. We went for dinner fully expecting it to be busy, which was fine. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes, while the lead bartender lady and trainee COMPLETELY IGNORED US. The bar was dirty, and needed wiped down. A nice waiter finally came, asked us what we wanted to drink, and gave us food menus. Unfortunately he did not return to take our orders. I did look at the menu for a while, but still come back to check on us. We are now 30 minutes into our experience, and the bartender, along with the girl she is failing to train behind the bar, still have not said a thing to us. My boyfriend asks the women if we can order, and the lead bartender walked away, didn't say a word, and left the trainee to fend for herself. It was very clear she needed help. We eventually got our food order in. The food came out fast for how many people were there. It was cooked well, and we took home what was left over. I had to ask for our silverware, napkins, refill, and check. Not once did the lead bartender talk to us. Not once did we get checked on. We asked for everything we needed. Just crazy how she could talk to everyone around us, but not us. Not a word. The trainee was super nice, but it was very clear no one was training her. We will be back, because my boyfriend loves that place. We will NOT be at the bar, and really hope the service is better next time.“

From the pink Cadillac on the wall to the small town neighborhood bar feel, this place hits just right. The barkeeps are attentive and polite, and the people there are exactly what you might expect. Nice job, will be back!“

“always have a great dinner at Whiskey roads I love the bourbon selection I'm a big bourbon drinker the only little pet peeve I had was the White Russian was in too big a glass too much ice too much milk does not allow the drink to stay consistent everything else as usual was just perfect this is a place where I know I can take out of town guests and I'll always be satisfied“

“Suds is a bit of a hole in the wall, but that's what I love about it! They have pool, darts, and an amazing outdoor patio. This is the bar to go to if you're wanting a chill night with a few buddies. You will find people of all ages at this bar UNLIKE its next door neighbor Sharky's. “It’s old and it can be depressing but the people are nice and most have calluses on their hands from the blue collar job they retired from. Friday nights and every other Wednesday is karaoke and it’s actually a very good time. Brenda has worked here for 30 years and now is the proprietor of the place. She’s doing a little work here and there to spiffy up the place. The hey day of folks cocktailing here and the phone ringing saying your table is ready at the Hickory House may be over but Brenda is doing it right in a part of town that doesn’t get much love.“

“I love this bar. It's got a Great Jukebox, several pool tables, a heated outdoor smoking area for the less pleasant times of the Iowan Weather. Great Prices on Domestic Cans and Bottled Beers. Plus what you'd expect to pay for mixed drinks, with a good pour!! And my personal favorite about BJ's is that I can go have a relaxing drink in complete anonymity, which is worth paying a nonexistent cover charge for. Any time I want to have a couple drinks and not be bothered by anyone in the place. Let alone some drunk who thinks he remembers me from somewhere else a long time ago. For ME, it's the opposite of Cheers, where I can go, and no one knows my name. And for that, I tip very well.Took my daughter in tonight, something I never thought I would do in my lifetime. Played some pool on the same tables, with possibly the same sticks, on definitely the same felt well rolled upon cloth pool tables lol the Drinks were still very good, and the Little Blonde bartender was a sweetheart of a gal. “Whenever we are in Cedar Falls, we always make sure to stop at the Landmark. The friendly atmosphere will warm your soul, or maybe that's just the good brews that the incredible staff serves. Inside, there is plenty of seating at the bar or at high top tables. Play some tunes, Buck Hunter, or darts! Outside, the patio has several tables to enjoy your favorite sport on TV or you play giant Jenga! Definitely a place I recommend everyone to check out!“
