“I love this place. Plain and simple. We eat at Opa at least once a week! I havent had one single bad dish. My absolute favorite is the Napoli pasta- I get it with extra mushrooms and it really hits the spot. The strawberry cheesecake and baklava are to die for! Why are their french fries so good? “I stopped at Lara’s yesterday for the first time, and was greeted with wonderful smells and beautiful smiles! The staff was very, very kind. I told one of the girls I’d never been in before, and she proceeded to show me everything on display. All of the yummy baked goods and pastries are huge, and the prices are very very reasonable! I left with 7 treats and only paid $9.50. Awesome quality, astounding service, a joy to have in Marshalltown!”

“This is the best little bar in town. Everyone is polite, funny and the bartenders know exactly what you drink after the first visit. Seating capacity 24, but so much more in the visit then a seat. Shirley, the owner is the best. The customers are friendly and everyone says hello.”

“Authentic Mexican in Iowa? Who would have guessed! We live in Texas, where good street tacos are prized. Maria's are as good as any I've had at home or in Mexico City. The posole was flavorful, and husband said the burrito was five star. Homemade horchata was best I've had anywhere. Every time we come to Marshalltown for family, Maria's is a must stop. Don't expect a fancy restaurant. It's window service from an old house, and you eat at picnic tables on the enclosed front porch or outside. But every Texan knows the best Mexican food comes from a hole-in-the-wall joint.”

“I ordered the jasmine tea, sushi/sashimi platter with miso soup and a spicy yellow fin roll. The sashimi was really good. The sushi rice however tasted like it was not seasoned very much. Instead they just used the starch they didn't finish washing off to stick it together. The miso soup was lacking flavor from the broth. But overall the service was fantastic. They were very polite and the food we ordered came fresh and fast. My wife ordered shrimp lo mein. The noodles were cooked just fine and the seasoning was good. But there was one weird thing. It tasted like they velveted the shrimp. If shrimp is cooked properly, you don't need to velvet them. Remember C is cooked O is overcooked. ? But I would eat there again considering it's hard to find decent sashimi near me. If you're in Marshalltown, give it a try.”

“The $1 Tuesday tacos were the best lunch I’ve had in Marshalltown - and such a steal. Definitely worth it to try for the first time. Tacos asada and al pastor were both delicious and the green and red salsas are perfect. I’ll definitely be back.
