This gem is one of Sioux City's best as far as restaurants and bars go in the area with an evolving, seasonal menu that will make you want to try something new every time you visit! Don't sleep on the classics like the truffle fries and brussel sprouts though, there's a reason those always stay. Also try out their weekend specials! After your visit, you'll know why this place consistently has a "Siouxland's Best Bar Tender" nominee. They are experts in their craft with an incredible selection of cocktails and craft beers. Sioux City is lucky to have such a trendy, vibrant spot for the foodies out here.”

“Our waitress was super sweet Ashtyn (not sure if correct spelling) and even though my side of mac n chz and shrimp was on the colder side everything tasted amazing. The manager came after waitress asked if all was okay , it tasted great just not very warm, and Ahe apologized. I feel he over did making things right but appreciated. I told him too everything was great just not very warm which I get “it happens”. Hubbies food was perfect. Everything else was great and will go back again. Nobody is perfect and it’s super busy I am understanding and patient everyone is short staffed and over worked”

I reached out privately to 1854 Grille to inform them of our experience, the GM (Kat) called me personally and was so apologetic and offered to make things right for us by trying them again. We agreed, so thankful she offered to do that and that we tried again because our experience was a complete 180. We got sat this time by the fireplace, 10/10 recommend! Was warm and a bit more of a sweet seat for a sweet date! Our server was Marcus, he was phenomenal and so well mannered! Food was excellent. He gave me my items and and offered to walk up and get the door for me because my hands were full. I told him it was ok, I could get it and thanked him. “It was busy and bustling, but we still got to order fairly quickly. Then we got to sit down and the food was brought to the table in no time at all. Everything was piping hot, fresh, and delicious. We ordered custard separately and again it was brought to the table quickly. I was shocked that they were able to mix in the pecans so thoroughly they were all throughout the custard without being broken. All said a great experience and would stop here on a road trip again.”

“My husband, child & I had never been to Opa Time. We moved here in Summer of 2020. I heard the “devastating” outcry from the public when the fire happened & how they wanted it back and they’d miss it and everything so forth. I thought it was horrible that it happened for the owners & hoped they had insurance. Come to the re-opening I hear about people wrapped around the building & how they don’t have a big enough parking lot & how it was blocking off traffic because so many people wanted to go to opa time to try their food. I thought hmm this much be some good stuff. I better wait until the hype settles and give them a shot. Brings me to tonight when we went in at just the right time. Not a sole was in the restaurant. No drive thru, nothing. We got our food brought out to us by a very nice man. It was probably the best fast food establishment I’ve seen in my life. And I think Jim’s burger is pretty great on Pierce. It suddenly got so busy and in the rain the man went out to get someone’s order so it would be ready by the time they got to the window. Talk about top notch service. Five stars isn’t enough!!! We will be back & with TIP money next time because they deserve it.”

I got a rubien sandwich which was very good. I also got a bowl of chili. To my surprise, I found there were jalapeños in it. That was fine with me though I and I assume others would prefer to know this prior to ordering. The chili was also very meaty with few beans. The waitress was very nice and did a great job. Be prepared. If you need to use the restroom you will need to walk into the basement via a stairway which may make it difficult for elderly or intoxicated patrons.”

The butterburgers are absolutely fantastic, featuring perfectly crispy edges and a wonderfully soft, buttered bun that sets them apart from typical burger joints. I also couldn't resist trying their famous crinkle-cut fries and a scoop of their rich, creamy fresh frozen custard, which made for the perfect sweet ending to my meal. The only minor downside was that the drive-thru line moved quite slowly, but the food is made fresh to order and arrives piping hot, which makes the extra wait entirely worth it.”

“Edited to add names- I found out that the people working tonight were MADDIE and LANDEN. ❤️ I stopped at Scooter’s Downtown location this evening around 5:30. I ordered my coffee with 2 extra shots and a muffin. I was on my way back to the hospital to be with my mother. I have slept for about 3-4 hours in the last 30 hours and forgot my wallet at home. I apologized to the young lady at the window and said I didn’t have money and had to go. She offered to give me the muffin anyway because it was already warmed up and in the bag. I thanked her over and over and said how sweet that was. Being so tired and maybe a little emotional from lack of sleep and told her about my mom being in the hospital and not sleeping for so long. The 2 people working went above and beyond and gave me the coffee for free and even offered to give me some redbull to help me stay awake. I so wish I would have gotten their names because I want to give them a huge shoutout! They made my rotten few days a little brighter. Such awesome service, above and beyond.”

“I love Monterrey. Very affordable. I love how they have two locations on two sides of Sioux City, it’s very easy to access. I get the Beef Classic fajitas. Never can go wrong with their cheese dip! Tastes perfect with their chips and I even put some over my fajitas too! Very fast as well!”
