“I served in the Army for nearly 10 years and was lucky enough to travel to Hawaii, where I first tried Hawaiian BBQ and loved it. When I found out there was a location here in Des Moines, I had to stop in while in town for the INPS Nurse Practitioner Conference.

The food was great—juicy, savory, and full of flavor. I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken (their main entrée, I think) and it did not disappoint. Their packaged sriracha sauce added the perfect heat. I do wish I had ordered veggies instead of double rice, but that’s on me! The twist soft serve was fantastic, and although I’m usually a huge fan of Spam and rice, I surprisingly didn’t love the spam musubi this time.

What really stood out was the service. My food was ready before I even sat down, every staff member I interacted with was friendly and smiling, and the restaurant was spotless. When I overheard they had a Veterans Day special after I’d already paid, the manager (David) went above and beyond and issued me a refund—very kind gesture. My only complaint was the ice machine running out, but the manager handled that right away.

All around, great food, excellent service, and an awesome team. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town and highly recommend this spot!“

“Took my 15 month old to have breakfast and check out the play area. They have 4-10 area and an under 4 play area. My little guy loved being able to climb around the toddler area and try out the slide. He was able to take a couple of tumbles without actually getting hurt as the area has padded flooring. We will definitely be back!“

I have ordered countless catering orders as well as takeout and dine-in. Every single order has been correct, consistent, and tasty! “Pretty good. I don't know how, but they have managed to make a quarter pound of beef seem like an eighth. LOL. I have never seen a thinner patty in my life.

Yet, the taste is there. Combo meal with fries and added a turtle sundae. Total was $14.50 or so. They make a good sandwich.

Pop machine was out of ice and ketchup container was empty. No problem. Staff addressed both when they were told.

Clean space and everyone was wearing a smile. Culvers seems to be good at finding those staff that will smile!“

“While on a road trip, we needed some Taco John's (not available in our part of the country). Off I35/I80 (west), exit 125, head west for nearly six miles (boo!) on US Hwy 6 / E. Hickman Road. Tricky getting to it in strip mall facing the highway; watch out, the parking lot is tight. Good, prompt service. The four cheese quesadilla was prepared just how I like it, with no sauce. Those potato oles, too die for!“
