About Steak 'n Shake

Steak 'n Shake, a classic American diner, offers a nostalgic atmosphere with its soda shop-inspired decor. While the food quality has been inconsistent, with some visitors reporting delicious meals and others experiencing greasy buns, the overall experience is often elevated by the attentive and energetic staff.

One standout employee, Kate, has been praised for her friendly demeanor and flair, adding a fun, theatrical element to the ordering process. Her thoughtfulness, such as proactively providing extra napkins, has left a lasting impression on customers.

The cleanliness of the establishment is also noteworthy, with one reviewer commending it as the "only fast food establishment in Waukee that actually makes sure it's tables are clean and welcoming."

While the transition to electronic self-service ordering has been met with some disappointment, the overall atmosphere and quality of the Steak 'n Shake experience can vary, with some visitors reporting excellent meals and service, and others expressing concerns about the food quality and lack of personal attention.

I love the shakes. Finding out there is a shake happy hour was great news- making the already affordable shakes even more affordable.

This location must have recently changed their fries. They are absolutely delicious!! I am a huge fan of the change.

I genuinely don't understand why this place has a 4.0 rating. The food is fast, fresh, and reasonably priced. All staff we've encountered have been helpful. Excellent choice for a fast dinner!
