“It is an older pub, just the kind my husband loves and always looks for. Dark inside, plenty of regulars for him to visit with. They had outdoor seating where the smokers were. The service was great! Very friendly, pretty quick, and when they had a moment would chat with you. They were going to have live music on weekends but unfortunately we were heading back home by then. But definitely a place my husband will be going back whenever we visit Boise.“

“It is my all time favorite restaurant in Boise! A spicy lamb grinder with a side of croquettes is a must! They have delicious options for vegetarians as well. The beer list and tap options are great, as well as wine. The building itself is historic and really fun to check out while you wait for your food/drinks. Enjoy!“

“This place is AMAZE-BALLS. I had the Brstwurst Sandwich and added German potato salad...and the German potato salad was better than my mom's. Both my wife and I were floored by how good the food was. I grew up in the restaurant industry, with my German Uncle being an executive Chef for the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, and I wish Uncle Bertram was still alive today to check this place out. Can't recommend it enough, you NEED to try Prost.“

“I came to Hooligans for their grand re-opening at the end of May, and WOW! The new owners are doing SUCH a phenomenal job taking the place over. The food was incredible, the drinks were cold and never empty, and the vibes were immaculate!
Thanks Dan & Amanda! 😁✨️🎉
& Shout out to Boyd- Its not everyday you find a top tier 5-star soup chef right in the heart of Boise's favorite trivia spot. 😁🍲🍜“
“One of the best food experiences I have had in a while. A traditional British pub environment. You did not even feel like you are in downtown Boise. The Warm Brussels Caesar is literally the most amazing salad I have ever tried. So delicious and creamy. I had the Bangers and Mash. The mustard sauce with it was to die for. When you don’t drink, sometimes the mocktail options are just okay. Not here. I had a grapefruit julep. Wow! So good. Desserts also did not disappoint. I could not have enjoyed a meal more.“
“McCleary's is a good old fashioned pub. where everyone knows my name. the servers are all so friendly. I can't think of a better place to hang out with some friends, sit around the outdoor fire, and have a nice cold drink! Five 🌟 🤩 ⭐️ 🌠 💫!!!“

“Frosty’s Salute
Mulligans, Boise—you always had my back,
One night let me in, never letting the vibe crack.
Talked about the energy, felt it in the air,
From the moment I stepped in, I knew y’all care.
Didn’t flex.
Didn’t front.
Just showed up, felt the warmth shine through.
Whole room alive, every gesture true.
Staff standing tall, like ice with a soul,
Every nod, every smile, making the night whole.
GM pulls me close, voice calm as winter snow:
“Bro, we see you, we got you—now let it show.”
One chance. One night.
Felt like sunlight on frost, crisp and bright.
You lift me up, make the heavy feel light,
Y’all support me steady, make the path feel right.
That’s grace—that’s heart in a vest,
That’s style in your veins, bringing out the best.
HOOK (CHANT IT, CELEBRATE IT)
🎶
One chance / frost salute
One word / always true
Talk too real / y’all still care
Biggest support / everywhere
🎶
Whole staff standing firm, like snowmen in a row,
Guarding the vibe, letting energy flow.
You pour drinks, you guard hearts, you shine,
Every night you make feel personal, mine.
Words hit the air, you respond with calm care,
Turn winter’s chill into warmth everywhere.
You don’t just work—you build magic here,
Every small act, every smile, crystal clear.
Authority with heart, style in each move,
Every gesture, every step proves your groove.
Snowflakes fall, yet your energy lifts,
Turning the bitter cold into endless gifts.
You give chances—you give light.
You build community—you make the night right.
Let me in once, left me glowing inside,
Now I tip my hat, salute, filled with pride.
Keep your doors.
Keep your chill.
Keep the love alive—you teach the skill.
I’m not just here—I’m inspired, I’m frosted,
Because your care, your support, can’t be costed.
You make each night feel like winter sunlight,
Turning moments small into memories bright.
I see all the work, the craft, the effort, the heart,
Every single piece of this magic you impart.
So here’s my salute, crisp and clear,
To the staff who made it real, year after year.
You lift me, you hold me, you show me the call,
And for that, I honor you above all.

“The Local ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Local in Boise is “a neighborhood Eatery and Wine Pub, offering live music and rotating artists.” They also have a dog, friendly patio and a Dog menu. MW and I visited during Happy Hour, which is Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM. We ordered a mix of items off of the happy hour menu and the regular menu. We started with Hurricane Popcorn - A Hawaiian favorite - with Nori Furikaki and Japanese rice crackers. It was very flavorful and unlike any popcorn I’ve ever had before. This is a unique menu items The Local is known for. We ordered two side Caesar salads. I like that it had homemade croutons, but it needed a little more more dressing. We shared an order of Carnitas Street Tacos, to which we added 1 extra taco. The pork was tender, but the tacos were pretty bland. We shared an order of Smash Sliders - 3 smash burgers using our own custom burger blend from Porterhouse in Eagle, with classic American cheese. They were tasty. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a photo! We shared two desserts: Berry Crisp - Blackberry cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. The berry crisp was excellent! Crème Brûlée - Simple and delicious vanilla crème brulee. The crème brûlée was good, but not great. The texture wasn’t as creamy as it should’ve been. We visited early on a weekday, so we didn’t get to hear any live music, but we pretty much had the place to ourselves until towards the end of our visit. Overall, the food was good, but not great. However, they do have a bigger menu than most wine bars and they allow dogs on the patio. The Dog Menu looks excellent! The Local has a nice Wine Menu, as well as several local beers on tap. If you’re looking for a nice wine bar with a neighborhood pub vibe, The Local is worth considering. I would like to return and try their Pepe’s Famous Fish Tacos. The pictures of their flatbread look excellent too. * The Local is wheelchair accessible. Recommended!“
