“The Local ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Local in Boise is “a neighborhood Eatery and Wine Pub, offering live music and rotating artists.” They also have a dog, friendly patio and a Dog menu. MW and I visited during Happy Hour, which is Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM. We ordered a mix of items off of the happy hour menu and the regular menu. We started with Hurricane Popcorn - A Hawaiian favorite - with Nori Furikaki and Japanese rice crackers. It was very flavorful and unlike any popcorn I’ve ever had before. This is a unique menu items The Local is known for. We ordered two side Caesar salads. I like that it had homemade croutons, but it needed a little more more dressing. We shared an order of Carnitas Street Tacos, to which we added 1 extra taco. The pork was tender, but the tacos were pretty bland. We shared an order of Smash Sliders - 3 smash burgers using our own custom burger blend from Porterhouse in Eagle, with classic American cheese. They were tasty. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a photo! We shared two desserts: Berry Crisp - Blackberry cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. The berry crisp was excellent! Crème Brûlée - Simple and delicious vanilla crème brulee. The crème brûlée was good, but not great. The texture wasn’t as creamy as it should’ve been. We visited early on a weekday, so we didn’t get to hear any live music, but we pretty much had the place to ourselves until towards the end of our visit. Overall, the food was good, but not great. However, they do have a bigger menu than most wine bars and they allow dogs on the patio. The Dog Menu looks excellent! The Local has a nice Wine Menu, as well as several local beers on tap. If you’re looking for a nice wine bar with a neighborhood pub vibe, The Local is worth considering. I would like to return and try their Pepe’s Famous Fish Tacos. The pictures of their flatbread look excellent too. * The Local is wheelchair accessible. Recommended!“

“The best food , staff, and views of the river“
“Let me preface this by saying I am not one to normally write up a review… But our experience last night at Les Bois was so superb, that I feel it is an injustice to not proclaim the good word about this establishment. Without a doubt, the owner Ben is the heart and soul of this wine program. Quick witted, well versed in the wine knowledge, and just an overall joy to listen to. The people in my group kept saying we should put a microphone on him and just record everything he says. He is so passionate and interesting to listen to. He served us two fantastic bottles of wine. There’s no wine menu. He simply asked what we liked and he conjured up the perfect bottles. The cheese platter was scrumptious as well with generous portions. Overall, a great value and very memorable experience. Good vibes all around!“

“Food was great, as always. Server was great! But had to close tab a little early as his shift was over, and somehow in passdown to the rest of staff we kind of got forgot waiting for our boxes. Last time we were here it took some effort to get attention to close out and leave also so this is the reason for one star reduction. We waited 45 minutes before I went to bar to ask for boxes.“

“I can't say enough great things about my experience 2 weeks ago. The first thing I ordered was the crudo, I love sashimi and I love citrus so I figured I would love this. I did. Fresh fish, bright and flavorful 10/10! I was feeling fancy so for my second course I ordered the grilled peach salad... now listen, I'm not a cooked fruit person but this was the juiciest most flavorful peach I've ever had and every component of the salad complimented each other. Last I ordered the steak, the grilled corn had a good crunch but didn't lose the fresh of the cob texture. I don't know what's in that house made steak sauce but holy moly that stuff should be bottled. I just loved that everything felt really thought out, but not overcomplicated. As I was raving to the bartender about my meal the chef came out and I was able to chat with Chef Kelly. Such a nice guy!
Also, Halle was bartending and made me one of her creations off of the drink menu. The service was great, drinks were great, food was great, and you can tell these people care about what they're doing. I will be back!
*** I was only going to leave the above review on a different site but then noticed that recently these guys got some complaints here that portions sizes and food weren't worth the price. One conversation with the chef told me that literally everything is made from scratch, local/regional. I'm not even kidding one of the farmer's they use was literally sitting at the bar when I was there. (Waterwheel I think? I can't remember the name of the farm) Local, from scratch, thoughtful, balanced, food is expensive. Do you know what the cost of labor is right now? Do you know what the cost of food that is NOT local, or fresh is right now? Fast food places are paying nearly $20/hr and you're going to be mad at a place that probably has to pay their staff more than that because it's skilled labor for charging appropriately for their food. If you want a cheap meal in 2024 good luck finding anything locally or sustainably sourced. I hear Applebees has a 2 for $20 deal. You should be ashamed of yourself for wanting to knock down a small businesses ratings when everyone is struggling to stay afloat right now.“

“I'm usually not much of a beer head, but I dropped in on a recommendation and I'm glad I did. The (very charismatic) bartender quickly helped me find something I'd actually enjoy. Everyone on the staff I've met has been super friendly/attentive and the rotating selection's always got something good and interesting on tap. Great atmosphere, too.“

“My wife and I have never done a wine tasting before so decided to try it out. These folks were very informative and happy to help. It was very busy the night that we went in, but the service did not seem to suffer as a result. We will definitely be coming back here!“

“A little hidden gem. Love visiting here for a quick bite or a visit at the bar. The restaurant and bar is separated so you have a choice between the two which I love. The bar has a pool table and both have inside or patio seating. The server Martin is excellent.“

“Whether you will Bodovino's will depend on your goals. It is a great informal place to meet a friend for a glass of wine. Most will not find it suitable for intimate drinks or a meal. The computerized of self-serve wine system offers a wide range of types and prices. Our waiter was very nice but tremendously overworked. The food prep was slow but the quality was good enough for the environment. The place was clean and well maintained.“

“It was such a fun dining experience! We went for a birthday & were offered the private room upstairs. It was a unique space that felt very homey (in a good way!) and the food was delicious. We got the whipped feta for an appetizer & it fed 5 people very well. Our favorites of the night were the lamb bolognese and the beef short ribs. Both dishes were flavorful with really healthy size portions. The waitress was very kind and brought out a cake for the birthday with a candle and the dessert was so so good! It was the strawberry chantilly crème cake, very very tasty!!“
