“What a great place with wonderful cocktails, a large and varied menu and a happy vibe. Christian, our server answered our many questions about the food and emboldened us to try selections we’d never had before! I loved the charbroiled skirt steak, ceviche, those pork appetizers I’ve never heard of, and my frozen strawberry margaritas. Others at the table had enchiladas, tamales, sangria and beer. Christian kept it all coming. He made sure to tell us about upcoming events such as taco Tuesdays and live music, including mariachi bands. Oh, sign me up! It also appeared to be family friendly. It’s a large space with plenty so we could have a conversation with our friends. The outdoor seating area looked nice, too, but we dined in the bar. A fantastic experience.“

“We were in the area after visiting the Trading Post, we noticed the sign for fish fry on Fridays, stopped in around 1pm and was warmly greeted by the bartender, a lot of regulars were inside but she did not ignore us and took our drink and then our fish order. Food came quickly and was delicious! I had the fish tacos. We really felt welcomed and we were satisfied with the whole experience.“

“Great local bar with the best bartenders in the area. If you want to experience what real Elgin is like, look no further than Hoppes! They have Fish Fry on Fridays but I’ve never had it but I want to. The owners are great and their sexy son, Chad, works some nights and is great eye candy for the ladies. If you want a bartender that serves up honesty along with great drinks, Jimmy is your man. He’s brutally honest so ask him to roast you for a good time. He once referred to a customer as the Vampire of Fun and he was spot on. Tiffany is a ball of energy, whose spirit is infectious. If you’re having a bad day, go during her shifts and she’ll pick you up immediately. Gale is the last bartender I’ve interacted with who works there. He’s a cool calm dude who can tell you some of the most interesting facts of the area. He’s also a caterer and a butcher when not at the bar. Theres someone for everyone here and if you’re in from out of town or just traveling through, have a stop at Hoppes just so you can say you’ve been there.“

“I walked into this joint with a bunch of metal heads and it felt like that moment in Tombstone when they walked into the saloon and everyone stopped and looked at them. We had fun on the gambling games and that staff was fast and friendly.“

The other customers were friendly and we ended up chatting with half the bar before the night was through. 1 pool table but everyone was super chill taking turns to play. Bathroom was clean. “No Wake continues to be a favorite spot of ours. We are always sat quickly, and the service is super friendly. Location is great on the Fox River, and the food is great too! Menu is large with plenty of options for everyone. We have tried multiple appetizers and sandwiches/wraps and enjoyed them all. My husband is a huge fan of the burger which you can tell is made with fresh quality meat. Plenty of seating options inside but we especially enjoy the patio. Bonus points for allowing your pup outside and their own doggy menu is a cute touch.“

The majority of us go there. We all grew up together or attended school in the area and know each other. Great place to get a brew or mix drink, and reminisce. Lots of old faces in here. If your from here or seeking info about our town... Then you know where to hang out at. Restrooms, Karaoke, Jukebox, Full Service Bar, Pizza and Chips, Dartboards and plenty of seating available.
