“It was uncomfortably loud in the room behind the bar. But the bar area was even louder. I asked the ser we if I could have the fried fish baked. She said that she didn't think so, but she would ask. So I ordered a salad. She brought the salad and the food for the other three at the table. We are. When we were just about finished she brought two very small baked pieces of fish. Hhhhhmmm. I did eat them. They were OK. We have been there before. Not super impressed. I can recommend the fried haddock. It is good.“

“I was in the other day for lunch and the music was so loud, you couldn't talk to the person next to you without shouting. Your fish fry is very good and I want to keep coming in, but with the music that loud, I will be going elsewhere.“

“They're always friendly when i come in even though I just go for the slots I dont drink but I heard the food there is amazing. The owner supposedly got a smoker and everyone was raving about the food last time I went I believe it was brisket. Definitely go in and at least try the food but go in and win some money while your there. It's a hidden gem!“

“Great place! Our party of 5 bellied up to the bar and had a great time. Jim our server and Scott the bartender made some great recommendations on drinks and apps. Watermelon margarita was the best one in the flight we had. The Tequilla Old Fashion was fantastic! Definitely made new friends and will be back often“

If you have the opportunity to be invited, you should definitely go and enjoy the lineage. Not many places left that run solely from the charity and hard work of the members to upkeep such an amazing place with such history.“

“Great local bar with the best bartenders in the area. If you want to experience what real Elgin is like, look no further than Hoppes! They have Fish Fry on Fridays but I’ve never had it but I want to. The owners are great and their sexy son, Chad, works some nights and is great eye candy for the ladies. If you want a bartender that serves up honesty along with great drinks, Jimmy is your man. He’s brutally honest so ask him to roast you for a good time. He once referred to a customer as the Vampire of Fun and he was spot on. Tiffany is a ball of energy, whose spirit is infectious. If you’re having a bad day, go during her shifts and she’ll pick you up immediately. Gale is the last bartender I’ve interacted with who works there. He’s a cool calm dude who can tell you some of the most interesting facts of the area. He’s also a caterer and a butcher when not at the bar. Theres someone for everyone here and if you’re in from out of town or just traveling through, have a stop at Hoppes just so you can say you’ve been there.“

“I walked into this joint with a bunch of metal heads and it felt like that moment in Tombstone when they walked into the saloon and everyone stopped and looked at them. We had fun on the gambling games and that staff was fast and friendly.“

“Stopped in last Sunday and they happened to be having free wings and potato wedges if you ordered a Bloody Mary. “Usually, there is a food truck this time was pizza individual sized and tasty. Maybe a couple dollars more than I had expected for a a bit bigger than personal size but, very tasty. Atmosphere is relaxing and casual. One patron brought their dog, very chill. Great beers on tap along with wines and porters. Seating is inside and outside. Can't beat this place for leisure. If lot is full they have the grass roped off for parking.“

“Great place to hangout! Even though it's a cash only bar they have an ATM. Drink specials everyday and it's cheaper than most bars. Bags and pool tournaments on Tuesday's starting at 6PM. Never a dull moment! 😀😊😀😊😀😊😀😊“
“Definitely a very calm atmosphere. This place is a gaming area and on the weekends it turns into like a small flea market period There is a Mexican restaurant to the left side of the building and a bingo area to the right side of the building you can get all authentic Mexican food and enjoy some time with family and friends for dinner at their nice restaurant that they have it's definitely worth a trip. Due to the many facilities that they have attached to each other I'm not exactly sure about the hours so that you'd have to double check me for leaving.“

“Been going there for years. Good food. Good beer. However, was told no dogs allowed and had to bring mine home even though I see them all the time up there in the summer (outside) and there are 4 dogs outside now. I can see not allowing them in the wooden patio but on the grass? Then to pick and choose who can or can’t? Despite this, I would recommend and have.“
