“This is a great small town bar. The bartender was great the day I was there, she brought a snack mix to the table, and kept the cold beers coming. The atmosphere is nice and the people are friendly.”
“Wow, just wow. This place has everything and it’s so good.Special today was tuna on croissant and cauliflower soup. Holy hell over exceeds all expectations.Kids got chicken strips and we got some shrimp, corned beef and cabbage. There really is nothing at all here you can order that you won’t just love. It’s all made with heart and soul. You’re missing out if you don’t stop in and partake.Kid-friendliness: Ice cream for dessert was phenomenal too.”
“We've come here for years when we had a camper at the Yogi Bear down the road. We've since decided to come back to the campground and this is a nice little place to come to that harkens back to simpler times (the decor hasn't changed in years) but if you're thinking of bringing your debit card or using Apple Pay, that ain't gonna happen. Bring cash or your checkbook (do people still have those?) the food isn't gonna blow you away, but it is good comfort food.”
“We ordered the Prime Rib and chicken, and they were excellent! We also had a side order of fried mushrooms. They are the best around! Nice, homey atmosphere. Waitress was very attentive and nice.Parking: Park in front, across the street, or behind building.Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome and have a nice selection on menuWheelchair accessibility: On one floor and everyone is accommodating to help.”
“I ordered a pizza when they opened tonight. They were swamped with orders since it was Friday night, but one woman employee offered to buy me a soda since I'd been waiting quite a while. That was very nice!! After 40 minutes my order was done and the pizza maker apologized to me for it taking so long to be ready. I assured them that I understood, and thanked them for their hospitality. I poured out my soda and placed the glass in the dish cart so someone didn't have to clean it up, since they were so busy. I made sure to leave a generous tip in their tip jar. The pizza was delicious!!”
“the people are awesome that work there even though I am a complete stranger, I was treated with respect and the attitudes of the staff is what's keeping it open . I will recommend Rooney's any day over a bigger bar.”
“Friend and I were driving from Grinnell, Iowa to Oak Park, Illinois and wanted to stop someplace about halfway for a quick dinner. I saw this place and that it was well rated. We were quite happy to find it.Informal, relatively small place filled with very welcoming locals. The kind of place where you’d tell a friend that you’ll be hanging out one evening so they should stop by for a drink.Typical bar / pub food. Few items appeared to be made from scratch, as evidenced by the box of Hamburger Helper near the bathrooms. But people who come here aren’t coming for fine dining. They’re coming for well-priced, comfort food items and, more importantly, a fun, laid back, social atmosphere.I had shared fried pickles and mushrooms for starters and a grilled chicken with tots. Mmmm.I would definitely come back.”
“Small town diner with great food, friendly staff, and fast service. It's my favorite place for breakfast, even in the afternoon. Go early for homemade pie, they sell out fast.”
“Me and my friend stopped in and ordered burgers after kayaking on the Rock River. These had to be the best burgers we have ate in years!!! If you’re in Dixon, stop at Porky’s and get a burger, they are fantastic!!”
“I’ve been going here with my dad on weekends for at least the past 15 years! The Owners remember when I was a kid. Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent staff and owners. Parking on Sundays may be a challenge but that is generally their busiest day. Never been disappointed the last 15 years I’ve been going here. Highly recommended.Kid-friendliness: Kids are there frequently with family.Wheelchair accessibility: 100% accessible for wheelchairs. No steps to walk up.”
“We attended the Grand Opening last weekend of the Cup & Cake with our grandkids, they enjoyed the sprinkle doughnuts, I had a glazed doughnut, and my wife had a cinnamon roll. Everything was delicious, they have a variety of coffees, pastries, and a fun atmosphere. I hope they do very well with this new business.”
“Tonight we entered for a late dinner and the serving staff was slammed. Not only was our food exceptional, our service was even better! Our waitress went above and beyond, meeting the needs of everyone around the table. Frequent patrons of this restaurant because of these reasons! Thank you for the excellent customer care!”
“Read about this place on one of the pursuing pork tenderloin Facebook groups. While the tenderloin was more like a battered pork chop sandwich, not my favorite but my guy really enjoyed it, the hand battered buffalo cauliflower was to die for. It was large pieces in delicious crunch batter and served with ranch. That was my favorite!”
“Great food by their chefs and service By an amazing woman named Dee ! The owner is very funny and makes you feel right at home! Please give this great place a try and you won't be disappointed! 5 stars!”
“I highly recommend this place they have the BEST shakes, boosted teas and coffees around! Owners are very sweet and great at answering any questions you may have!”
