Don't miss Bloomington's top Mexican restaurants, as recommended by Restaurantji.
“We ordered online when we arrived the place was full of happy diners immediately we knew it would be delicious needless to say that was a major understatement the food here is absolutely phenomenal the quesadillas are ? would reccomend to anyone in the Bloomington-Normal areaVegetarian options: We are both vegetarian we got the chips and cheese/salsa quesadillas and the large veggie burrito the best thing was absolutely the quesadillas the burritos are amazing they are grilled but not at all crispy on the outside so they are very soft and flimsy but they are very big and absolutely loaded with mushroom everything was very delicious we will be back“
“Man oh man their tacos are always super hot and fresh! My first visit I tried a variety of tacos, but el pastor is my favorite. The mild sauce has a nice warm kick to complete the perfect taco.I have learned to call ahead if I am not eating at the restaurant since everything is made fresh it takes about 10 minutes, still very quick but they can be busy at times.Parking: Located in a strip mall, I have never had an issue parking“
“I would recommend, as always, except being there a couple of weeks ago, our black bean soup was like it was poured from a can, not prepared with other ingredients as in the past, and cold. Sent it back to be reheated and still cool. I will not recommend ordering your black bean soup unless it starts getting prepared again and cooked. Next time I’ll get the shrimp appetizer. When you first opened, the soup was delicious. Now, it seems an afterthought.“
“So many good things to say about this place. Lightning fast food preparation times. That might make you think the food may be of poor quality, but it is certainly some of the best food I've ever had in my life. Chicken and Shrimp Fajita and House special is my all-time favorite menu item and I highly recommend it. Huge portions for the cost. And the all of the staff is friendly and efficient. These folk will take care of you in your time spent here. And you will want more.“
“I have eaten here three times, and everything I tried have been amazing. I love that I can get potatoes instead of meat. The customer service is great, and the food is done fast. Every time I'm in line I have a conversation with another customer about how it's their favorite Mexican food in town and La Patrona has loyal customers for a reason.. Thank you for the great lunch again, today!“
“My husband and I were in Bloomington and needed a place to grab lunch. Someone suggested Tony's Tacos and we are so glad they did. The lady who took our order was so nice. The food was great. The prices were reasonable for today's market. If we are in Bloomington again we will definitely be back.“
“Currently staying at a nearby small town temporarily due to husband's job , I was glad to find a Mexican grocery store. Got some seasoned taco meat , Mexican candy and tostadas. Everything looks very authentic , will be coming again soon.“
“We were in town and decided to stop by Fiesta Ranchera today, funny coincidence is that we knew our waiter from a previous restaurant. Evan was very kind and always very generous, it was such a pleasure to talk to him! I ordered the fajita quesadilla with chicken and my husband ordered the chimichangas with shredded beef. Nice big servings and quite delicious, always made fresh! We got in there before the dinner rush so that was even better because it was quiet in the restaurant and we got our food within 5 minutes! We will definitely be stopping back by next time we're in town!“
“Salsa and service was good. Not a complaint but I will never understand why shrimp in Fajitas still has the tail on...l will go back because it was good but I will request tail removal on the shrimp.I can remove it myself but it's just a little messy. It's good though“
“We had a large group and the restaurant was a little busy. It took them awhile to get drink orders and were slow to get chips and salsa out. That did improve but was a slow start. When I ordered I explained that I couldn't eat meat and asked if my food could be cooked on a clean grill or pan away from meat. Our server said yes that they could do that. Unfortunately, my vegetarian taco salad had a large piece of chicken in it and I did not eat eat it.It was a waste of food. The taco salad looked good other then all the oil that ran out of it when I first cracked a piece off the side. That is also when I found the chicken. They did offer to remake and asked if there was anything they could do. I have no trust in the kitchen when this happens and I usually not eat. It's such a big waste of food and I hated to see them throw it in the bin.Everyone liked their food. My wife really enjoyed her vegetarian chimichanga. She's not concerned as much about meat as I am. She would just pick it out if she found it. She did not have that issue though and said it was one of the best Mexican dishes she's had at a restaurant. My kids both got chicken on the beach and said it was okay. Our server worked hard and you could tell he felt bad about the meat. They did a nice job with the large group after the slow start. We were able to make it back to the arena for the basketball game in plenty of time.Vegan and vegetarians should no that their food is not cooked separately from mean. It's a shame because the have some nice vegetable options like broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini. I would not recommend this place of you don't eat meat.Vegetarian options: Vegetables for vegetarian dishes are cooked on the same grill and a high chance of cross contamination or even meat in your vegetarian dish. This seems to be how most Mexican restaurants treat vegetarians and is unacceptable. Please don't have a vegetarian section on your menu if you can't prepare those dishes properly.“
“We always love fiesta, tonight we carried out and I ordered chicken with my combo and it came with beef. It was very good, just not what we ordered. My wife’s chilaquiles were amazing. Service on carry out was excellent! Thank you Fiesta!“
“On a road trip. Not sure what we were hungry for…. Hotels Concierge's recommendation was spot on. We chose Lasagna and Fajitas but there was so many more choice. Food was all fresh and good. Server was friendly and knowledgeable food served hot and quickly.Parking: Lighted and easy in and out.“
“Were from Springfield, Ill and we don't have a Mexican grocery. I've been on a roll trying to make authentic red sauce. Lupita's grocery is awesome! Folks were friendly(we were the only white folks in the place), the produce was top notch, they had an incredible selection of dried peppers in large, medium, and small quantities. In a good part of town. Place was very busy. We didn't eat at the restaurant What a local treasure!!!!“
“The succulent and tender meat is packed with flavor and juiciness that tantalizes the taste buds. Moe's has undergone a revamp, upgrading their restaurants with a contemporary and polished look. The introduction of new ovens has elevated the meat preparation process, ensuring that every bite is cooked to perfection and bursting with rich, savory goodness.Kid-friendliness: Booths and high chairs“
“The service was good and the food was great! Prices were reasonable. The only thing that really detracted from the experience was how noisy it was. Even toward the end of our meal when the restaurant wasn’t very busy anymore, it was difficult to have a normal conversation at our table of four or to hear our server in the large, open room.“
