“I stumbled upon this hidden gem early on a Friday morning. They are located not to far from the Illinois/Indiana border on Torrence. They are open early for breakfast. The menu is full. I ordered the Chorizo skillet and it was well prepared spicy and full of fresh veggies and flavor. The coffee was mild and just right for a few morning cups.

I love the family style feel as the syrup was the official Mrs. Butterworth. I was not rushed and allowed to enjoy my breakfast and sip my coffee slow on a Friday morning before work! Great experience I will be back.“

“OMG!!! This place is the bomb, the inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, the customer service is phenomenal and the food is fantastic. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for some delicious soul food. I love the dressing, baked chicken, sweet potatoes and muffins. The portions are good, I had enough left over to take some home for a late night snack. Our hostess Ms. Lyn has outstanding service she made sure that my glass was full at all times and that I had everything that I needed. “I really wanted to love this place because I truly appreciate supporting a family owned business, and the atmosphere had that welcoming, hometown feel. The service was friendly, and you can tell this restaurant means a lot to the people who run it. Unfortunately, the food did not match the experience. Parts of the meal were overcooked and burnt (steak and pork chops), while other items (like the pancakes) were a tad undercooked. It seemed more like an issue with kitchen execution than the quality of ingredients.

I would absolutely come back if the cooking consistency improved, because this business has great potential and the kind of charm you want to support. Hoping they can make some adjustments in the kitchen this could easily be a local favorite with the right chef.“

“Locally owned restaurant and bar that caters to the local crowd. Food is very good with daily specials. Personal favorites are the soups and chicken wings. All the food I've had has been good and we visit weekly. The place serves pizza, and it is good, but pizza is definitely a personal decision. Staff is friendly and accommodating. A place worth visiting if you haven't already.“

She is very familiar with event hosting and has a solid understanding of the wedding industry. It was a pleasure to work with Dani for her reliable communication, attention to detail, and professional coordination of vendors and reception timeline. Dani respected our floor plan design so the seating arrangement was exactly what we envisioned for our wedding. There was ample seating and space for our DJ, photo booth, dessert table and a gifts table. Our guests especially loved the food and the open bar. Overall, we were pleased with the entire server staff of The Emerald Green. If you are interested in a beautiful venue to host your next event, we recommend this!“

“Cute little restaurant, I love the Fresh Flowers on the Table, the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, it’s like being at my family home with my granny and tee tees, cousins etc sitting around waiting for Breakfast to be done, and omg the food looked Good, taste good and was Hot, everything was fresh. “Must try this place!!! So good went back 2 days in a row!!! First time got the Nachos Mexicanos with steak, chicken enchiladas with red mole and a bacon cheeseburger! Second time tried the fajita with steak, chicken and carnitas with cheese on top! All of it so flavorful not bland likeost places! Tommy is a Great server/bartender! Can't go wrong with the homemade cantaritos either!!!“

The chicken was especially bad and didn’t taste fresh at all 🍗❌ The onion rings were also not enjoyable and seemed overcooked and greasy 😞 The only thing I actually liked was the sandwich, which was decent 👍 Everything else was so disappointing that I couldn’t even finish it. “I had heard they had prime rib tacos, I have never had prime rib tacos. I guess you can only get them on Wednesday so I called and ordered carry out. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The taco itself was absolutely delicious! So savory and moist. I am glad I ordered 3 of them. I will 100% be going back.“

“Well, if they cook your food properly, it's not bad... however, if they don't and you need to send it back to cook it (not a fan of raw burgers 🤷‍♀️) and it comes back the same way... be prepared to not eat and pay for the meal anyway. I asked for it to be removed from our bill (over $100 total so not just a couple things) and they removed it after a small "fight" but literally charged us for a basket of fries cuz I ate a few fries off my plate, I guess. they don't take care of their mistakes nor do they care to make things right. “Very clean bar. Italian beef sandwich and Sicilian pizza was delicious. Bar staff seems to be very friendly. There is quite a lack of parking at this facility. There was only three people in the bar. Went on a Monday before 4th of July 2024.

I did hear they have karaoke on the weekend so hopefully I'll be able to check that out very soon.

“We were the only ones in the place, so we were totally catered to. Of course it was at an off time on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, which is why we were the only customers. We had a nice chat with the owner, and the food was absolutely delicious. We especially liked that much of it is homemade on site. So good!“

Tried a flight of 10 beers and favs were Tangerine Trackstar, Toxic Words, Lucifer in a haze, Immoveable King, Nuban overlord and the top one Here comes the reaper. We also had the Pretzel and queso for snacks. They were very good and fast. They also had ice tea which is not always available at breweries. I will say the art work gave me pause and some of the names being a Christian but I don't know the background to comment.“
