“This place is so good that macaroni is like home and that chicken they show you love on the
chicken keep going there they give you even more the is chicken is so moist and flavorful. I like the chicken and the vegetables are so freaking good. They are freaking amazing and the red beans and rice is so gravy. It has a lot of gravy in the red beans and rice. You would like red beans and rice messing with this place change you whole perspective please try them. You will not be disappointed. this place is so tasty. You were really like when you spend your money and try them and they give you large potions the last two days for me. I eat on this for two days they show you love all the sides. “Swung by One Stop Jamaica Jerk on 79th and grabbed the jerk chicken dark meat dinner. That chicken was juicy with just the right amount of heat. Sides of red beans & rice and cabbage were on point, and the plantains added a sweet touch. Washed it down with a Jamaican soda, bringing the total to about $25. Portions were generous, and the flavors hit home. Definitely a solid spot for authentic jerk on the South Side.“

“This is the very 1st Jerk restaurant where EVERYTHING was good and fresh. I had oxtails, jerk chicken, cabbage, Mac and Cheese, yams, peas and rice, and plantain. My Ma had a full dark jerk chicken dinner as well. The Mac and cheese was seasoned to perfection and cheesy as ever (no egg; baked). The yams not overly sweet, jerk chicken just right. The cabbage is consistently good. Only disappointment was the size oxtail they give is small. (4 little pieces and 2 big. Thats everywhere though) EVERYTHING was hot, and did I say fresh?? glad it's right around my Mas house. I'll be eating here much more often!!“

Just a heads up, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing, there is very limited seating. 10 seats I'd guess. I had never been here so I didn't realize until me, and my buddy's came by. There was enough for us by the way so there was no issue for us. Most people were just doing carry out.“

“First time here and definitely worth trying. The chicken is soft and well seasoned with the jerk flavors. Mac and cheese is cheesy and good. Cabbage is good..now the red beans and rice tasted like rice a roni..it didn’t have that real flavor of red beans and rice plus I think all I got was like three beans. Then it came with some sauce that was sweet, rubbed me the wrong way. But overall I would recommend for anyone to try for themselves.“

“I have been here a total of 4 times and every time it is a hit ! I usually don’t do reviews but when something is good I definitely support I usually stop and get a donut at Dat Donut and then I walk down and grab some jerk, the location and atmosphere I would only stop during the daytime but as far as the food it is reasonably priced, the portions are large, the jerk chick is really good so is the rice and peas very soft and cabbage, the Mac and Cheese I will say is bland and it is a 3$ up charge lately they have not had any plantains which is a disappointment but I will say if you want some good authentic jerk food try Jerk it iz.“

“i’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for the longest. i finally tried it last night and the food was sooooo mid (mediocre). more than likely i won’t be back. its nothing to write home about. i went with the typical jerk 1/2 chicken dinner and the only sides to choose from was rice and peas and cabbage and that automatically came w/ their dinners. no mac and cheese, no greens, yams, nothing. Plantains also came with the dinner. the service was good and the waitress was friendly. i also like the atmosphere and the neighborhood in which it is located. but other than that, nothing more nothing less for ja grill.“

“I love jerk palace I eat at this location everytime I visit Chicago. My father passed away so i decided to book them for catering for his repast services yesterday. I REGRET THAT SO MUCH I spent $1,090 THE CATERING FOOD WAS TERRRIBLE all of the chicken was burnt, rice wasn’t fully cooked and mac was super soupy… So that being said the food is good for a take out order but do not book them for catering they can’t handle it…. I even went in to complain in person n I was just told sorry while spending $118 more dollars on single meals. But I own a food business in mn and in this situation some kind of resolution should have been made a credit or something. That was nasty work!“
