I love gao's!! their happy hour is the best in chicago, and its byob. The servers are very nice but the service can be slow. Be prepared to stay for a bit.

Gao's BBQ & Crab is a nice little place tucked on a side street in Chinatown. The food and staff are great. Skewer flavors are on point, with lamb definitely the best meat. Highly recommend the beef and lamb skewers. The garlic claps slap, and the potatoes are cooked perfectly. Soy fried rice is an excellent base for their large variety of bbq kebabs. The atmosphere is great and the employees are always very friendly. Service is good, though quite slow sometimes. It is hard to find a parking lot, but it is worth all the effort. Online reservations go quick, but getting there a little early helps. Also, a BYOB.
