Was a HUGE Thomas the Tank Engine kid (NOT Thomas the Train, you uncultured nitwits), so my eyes always lit up from the backseat whenever my parents drove past this spot. Fast 4ward to now and it TOTALLY DELIVERS! The bartender is basically Sir Topham Hat the way he be SHUNTING drinks right into my hands. Full steam ahead, boys. Next stop: another round. 🚂🍺
One of the best old school Chicago bars still holding out and staying true. Old school, no frills well executed cocktails. What else can you ask for. Be a part of Chicago history and belly up to the tiny and often cramped time piece that is Matchbox!
Drinks were decent, I think the Marg had egg white in it which I thought was kind of strange.
Docked a star because they played terrible punk covers of pop hits all night. Such an odd choice.
