The food here is absolutely amazing. Love the options and the flavor. Will definitely be coming back! Only con would be the staff, they seem uninterested in their patrons which can impact the atmosphere slightly. Otherwise a great place for some pasta!

Pasta was chewy. Service was slow. Never had enough water at the table. Calamari was greasy and chewy. Nothing was up to standard for a restaurant with this rating and these prices. Very disappointed and I NEVER leave reviews.

The service and the food were great! We were a bit nervous to come here with such polarizing reviews, but we enjoyed the food. We each had 2 glasses of wine, the frois Gras , the pecorini al tartufo Nero, gnocchi con regulations, and flourlese cake. The truffle pasta was hands down the best past I've ever had! It was a large serving... enough for leftovers. We got the chocolate cake for my bday which was great! I will say the charging you for water was weird... but I saw that in the reviews and on the menu so it wasn't surprising. We just made sure we ordered more wine because of it.

I will never attend or recommend this establishment to anyone. The prices are absurd because they take on practices of fine dining "cuisine," not food. Upon being seated, we were offered water. They promptly brought out *opened* glass containers of water. The water charge was never communicated to us. They simply brought over water and asked "still or sparkling." The food was $$ quality out of $$$$, but the prices were in the $$$ range with many hidden fees. The calamari and king shrimp appetizer included five-mere 1/2 inch diameter- squid and 2 small shrimps, that were not even deveined for $20! The $4.50 bread charge was for barely any bread that was the quality of store bought bread. The waiter was only attentive to the table when he was attemping to bully us into more purchases; he was not servicing us besides attempting to upcharge us. The 20% service fee for subpar service was ridiculous considering copious ammounts of places use the service fee in place of tip but give you the option to add an additional tip. Customers should not be burdened to pay a 3% card fee, 20% service fee, AND tip. There were so many hidden fees, I am unsure if we were charged an additional $4.50 for our second toddler sized portion of bread! This is the most greedy resturant I have dined at EVEN in the Chicago loop. The owner/manager of this resturant should consider persuing a career in airfare due to their expertise in nickle and diming customers. Fine dining prices with food quality equating to a chain resturant.-Do not visit this resturant unless you would like to pay for an average ambiance, mediocre food, & dishonest/deceptive practices.

We will absolutely not be returning. Aside from charging for virtually everything, they force things on you like $4 water?! Bread is $4.50. They force you to pay a 20% service charge, no thanks. Tipping is optional, and I’ll tip based on my experience. Not after you open a $4 water bottle and pour it you ask me if it’s okay. Food was not worth it, the restaurant was not so nicely decorated or food so delicious or unique that it was worth over $150 for two people. It honestly felt like a scam. I’ve never been charged for water and bread at any other sit down establishment. We paid $11 for THREE PIECES of shrimp. Yes, you read that right, 3. Also they charge you to use a credit card?!?! Honestly feels like they are robbing. I would never return based on the operations and quality of food is nothing special, mediocre at best.

The food at Osteria del Pastaio is SO good!! One of the best cheese wheel pastas I've had in Chicago.

Dining with my two children, ages 11 and 14, was a delight Tuesday evening! Our server was kind, attentive, and gracious and the food was superb! A very special occasion for my daughter's birthday...thank you so much!

Went there for my wife’s birthday and it is safe to say we will not be returning.First off, they charge you a 20% service fee which is reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber although I feel like if I am to be charged 20% for service than the service should be better than what I received. Our drinks sat empty for 20 minutes before our waitress asked if we needed another, and it took nearly an hour for our entrees to arrive. And I understand that they want to assure quality food but with the street parking near this place that expires after a certain amount of time, they cut it way too close.Another thing, they will charge you $4 per person for water so unless you want to pay for something that prisons offers for free then you should decline the water when they greet you with it.Also a 3% credit card fee is added to your bill. So in total there is about 30% more than what you actually ordered in just fees. With all that being said I will also say that the food was very good, it is just disappointing that all of the negatives overshadowed that.Thank you for hearing me out and hopefully this helps anyone who is planning on dining here.

The cheese wheel pasta is extremely salty. The waiter charged us 20% service fee without telling us beforehand (and handed me a receipt to sign with 18% recommended tips on top of that).

The food was really good. I wished it had been larger servings. The service staff was very nice and accommodating. It was definitely good enough to go there again.

Made reservations and got seated an hour late. Food was just OK. Could have been warmer. Ordered the scallop linguine but there were only 2 scallops. The ambiance is lovely. Not sure if it was just a busy night

The food was way better this time around. Service was great and the suggestions that were given were delicious! It would be great for a date night or happy hour with friends.

Osteria del Pastaio is where carbs and grapes go to become celebrities. The pasta’s so good, you'll consider it a personal friend, and the wine? It'll make you forget all your exes.
