The hibachi chicken rice was so tasty, and I loved the Pink Lady sushi!
This is an American-Japanese hibachi style restaurant that also serves sushi. It is NOT a teppanyaki restaurant. I was sorely disappointed to read the menu and discover no teppanyaki was available. If you want stereotypical American-Japanese hibachi, this is a great restaurant. But don't come expecting teppanyaki. My companion tried the hibachi and said it was wonderful. I did a crab roll and the crab rangoons, which were excellent.
Food was excellent! I had the hibachi steak with fried rice and it proved satisfying. Ping the chef was probably the funniest hibachi chef I’ve had so all around, this was a good time.

Based on the reviews, Sakura Teppanyaki & Sushi | Hibachi in Lakeview Chicago is an American-Japanese hibachi style restaurant that also serves sushi, not a teppanyaki restaurant. The food is excellent and delicious overall. The hibachi steak with fried rice proved satisfying, and the salmon sashimi was great with soy sauce. The crab roll and crab rangoons were excellent. The hibachi chef was probably the funniest chef and gave a great experience. The location is really nice, but it can be a little noisy with loud night club level music. Service was friendly, prompt, and attentive, though there was a late seating for a large group. The only downside was the ginger salad dressing needs some improvement. It is a hidden gem for good hibachi, and guests would happily come back.
