Tamu is a new sushi spot in the West Loop area. The service is great and very good, with the staff being friendly and accommodating. The prices are fair and in line with the neighborhood, though some may find the portions on the smaller side. The flavors of the dishes, however, are very enjoyable and delicious, with a good fish to rice ratio.
The restaurant has three distinct areas: a popular hand roll bar with plentiful choices, a main dining room, and an opulent omakase section that requires reservations. The omakase experience is described as elevated and affordable, with a sushi chef with a strong pedigree putting great care into each cut. A small ice cream dessert is included.
Diners have noted the unique sake service in wine glasses, as well as the tasty and creative drinks. Overall, Tamu seems to strike a balance between high-quality sushi and a more casual, fast-paced dining experience, making it a great option for a quick lunch or a wonderful meal for sushi enthusiasts in the area.
