Tamu is a new sushi spot in the West Loop area. The service is great, with the staff being friendly and accommodating. The prices are in line with the neighborhood, though some may find the portions on the smaller side. The flavors of the dishes, however, are very enjoyable, even if diners don't feel entirely full after their meal.
The restaurant has three distinct areas: a hand roll bar, a main dining room, and an omakase section that requires reservations. While the hand roll bar is popular, the limited seating can lead to long waits. The omakase experience is described as elevated but still reasonably priced, with a small ice cream dessert included.
Diners have noted the unique sake service in wine glasses, as well as the chilly temperature inside the restaurant. Overall, Tamu seems to strike a balance between high-quality sushi and a more casual, fast-paced dining experience, making it an interesting option for sushi enthusiasts in the area.
