LOVE Krekel's!!! Best place in Macon County to get an ice cream cone!
Add to show my Illinois Festival royalty what a good ice cream cone is! So appreciative of them being open on a Sunday!!

This takes me back to the 50's style hamburger. Im a fan.
I currently live out of state but Krekels was a staple in my child hood. We always make it a point to go anytime we come to visit and it never disappoints!❤

Krekel's Dairy Maid in Decatur is a must-visit spot, known for its decent smashburgers and great shakes. The service is quick, with orders ready in about five minutes. While there is no indoor seating, picnic tables are available under cover, making it convenient for families and groups. The burgers are top-notch, especially when paired with a warm cup of chili, and their delicious lemon ice cream, including the popular lemon strawberry twist, is highly recommended. The restaurant is family-owned, creating a warm atmosphere, with a large roste metallic structure outside that adds a unique touch. The location is kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible, though parking is limited and mostly used for to-go orders. Customers often enjoy their outdoor tables and benches, making it a great place to relax. Though food and service are usually fantastic, occasional delays can happen, especially when orders are incorrect, but staff work to fix issues quickly. The brownie dessert is large enough to share, and it’s a popular stop for those visiting the area.
