“This is THE BEST! No, it isn't a place you really eat in, but if you want fresh home cooked Cantonese dishes, there is no place better. You walk in to a place that's kinda like nana's parlor. Then you are greeted by the chef herself. She is fantastic, very nice, and an excellent cook. The prices are very fair for the quality and amount of food you get, because you will have some leftovers! The eggrolls and crab rangoon are unbelievable (and heat up well the next day in a toaster oven.) Go try this little hidden gem!“

“Much like other reviews state, I was passing through and wanted something other than the chain restaurants that are prevalent in the area. Took a chance on this place and I tend to test Chinese takeout spots by ordering shrimp fried rice, maybe a chicken dish, and dumplings - I got the shrimp fried rice and fried dumplings to go around lunchtime.
The shrimp fried rice was some of the best fried rice I've had across many cities and states in the country, full of flavor. The fried dumplings were fresh, you could taste the garlic and scallions within each dumpling and it came with sauce for you to dip.
While I only ordered takeout, the ambiance of the place leaves much to be desired - it's in a small, nondescript strip mall, and inside, the bar space to the right is entirely out of service, and the tables and chairs in the seating area to the left are serviceable. My guess is that it's largely for takeout but I wouldn't mind eating in if I had more time to sit and it was just me and a close friend who wouldn't mind.
I'd eat here again!“

“On Christmas Day at lunch time, the place was bustling, three-quarters packed.
The service was excellent. The food, cooked just right, was delicious and tender. I especially enjoyed the breaded shrimp, the deep-fried chicken and more.
The prices were reasonable as well
The atmosphere warm, temperature wise, and also in sound. Low level background Christmas music, slightly louder than the generally low level clients conversations. (The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star atmosphere rating, it's because the back seat of the booth I'm in is not very sturdy. I'm a man of 221 lbs. And the guy is sitting behind me, looked like he was about 240.
And he wiggled a lot in his booth. Every time he wiggled around, the back of my seat went forward and backward, which made it very uncomfortable to sit in my booth. But perhaps the rest of them are not like that. They also have tables with chairs. And you can order from the menu, or use the buffet
Regardless, you can't go wrong with the New China Star Chinese restaurant in West Frankfort, Illinois.“

“We stopped by just passing through. The guys was amazing but the guy i dealt with had zero customer service skills. He initially tried to charge me 40 something dollars for a meal just for me plus a few small sides. When i tried to explain, he had a horrible attitude. I still paid 20 something for one meal plus 2 egg rolls and a chicken on a stick. But the food was absolutely great.“

“The drive-thru worker, demonstrated remarkable customer service, going above and beyond. As a recent federal transplant to the area, my day begins at 4am, and I was unable to obtain food until after 8pm. Despite the challenges posed by the late hour and limited menu options that were sold out, Tabby's, genuine human kindness remained unwavering, as she happily assisted with the remaining items available prior to closing. This employee deserves recognition.“
