Had fried chicken, it was good 👍
Service is always great. Thanks to a great manager Karen
My fiance and I found this place randomly on our road trip back home. Absolutely loved it! Cute homey southern decor. Nice waitstaff. The food was delish. We got the fried green tomatoes and jerk style salmon. If we're ever in that area again we will definitely be back!

Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop offers tasty food, with highlights including fried green tomatoes, seafood cakes, and mac and greens. The service is generally good, and the prices are reasonable. Customers enjoy dishes like fried chicken and the Mac and cheese, while the seafood cakes and catfish filets are also praised. The greens are considered okay but nothing special. Many visitors appreciate the friendly service and the quick, hot takeout options, which come in containers that keep the food warm. The restaurant captures a genuine southern or Cajun style of cooking, making it a rare find in the Chicago area. The decor features vintage gas tanks and pictures that some may find odd, but the food quality remains consistently praised, and the atmosphere offers a taste of the bayou. Overall, Dixie Kitchen is recommended for those seeking soulful, southern-inspired meals.
