“I would have to agree with the positive reviews that this Italian beef is the real deal. Someone said this was salty but I’m pretty sure she just made up stuff. The bread was not stale, it was fresh. They gave me a lot of sweet peppers and meat. I had it dipped. The meat was juicy and tender. I could have eaten two of these but I wasn’t sure how big it was. I also got a chili cheese dog. It was good but not as memorable as the beef. I would have to come back and try the cheesy Italian beef and Italian sausage. They have one single person restroom and a good amount of seats. I came at night so most of the orders were takeout. The staff was friendly.“

Every week they have different mochi donut flavors, try them all! For the Korean hotdogs, you choose your flavor, then if you want mozzarella/sausage, and a dipping sauce. “My 5 star review is entirely in part due to the customer service from Sam/ Phil. We arrived and explained to Sam that we previously had a negative experience but that it was a while ago and we hadn’t had a chance to come back sooner. But we were told to come in and explain that we spoke to Phil and we’d be taken care of. Sam went to the back so speak with Phil on the matter of course and when he returned he took complete care of us, no questions. It’s simple customer service like this that will have us coming back to this location time and time again. Thank you Sam, thank you Phil. We appreciate your great customer service.“

“This review is not specific to the Willowbrook Portillo's. It is for the entire chain. Portillo's is a Chicagoland icon. Starting with a humble hotdog stand, Frank Portillo built an empire, with 95 locations across the USA. While they all have the same menu, they are all unique in their decor and atmosphere. Usually, the restaurants have a Chicago theme; gangsters from the '30s & '40s, rock and roll, moonshine, or sports; plus, music to match.

Now, the food. Hotdogs,Burgers, Italian Beef, Salads, and Pasta dishes are the specialties of the house, and Portillo's has perfected them. Everything is made to order and cooked to perfection. Place your order at the counter and 5 to 10 minutes later, you have a meal that will ensure you that you must return to try something else from the menu. Or, like me, you can come back over and over to get one of two things: a burger with onion rings, or a big dish of rigatoni with meat sauce.

Now, all that being said, if you go, you have to save room for dessert. Portillo's makes THE best chocolate cake on the planet. And they give you a huge slice of it. I usually eat half and save the rest for another day. If you don't like eating cake, 1) I feel sorry for you, and 2) you can get the famous Portillo's Chocolate Cake Shake. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like; a milk shake with a whole slice of chocolate cake blended into it. My daughter absolutely loves it.

So, if you are visiting the Chicago metro area, make it a point to visit a Portillo's restaurant. If you live in the Chicago metro area, why are you Rea ding this? You already know...“

“I placed an order for a jumbo cheese dog and fries and had to wait in the drive thru line over 30 minutes. They said they had a system issue but after reading the reviews I doubt that's the case. I got in line at 6:59 and placed my order it's now 7:33 and I just got the bag. I can't move anywhere because nobody else has their food so I have to sit here and wait. This is absolutely ridiculous. I ordered a jumbo cheese dog with tomato and pickle only and a large fry. I open the bag there's a cup in there with a tomato and pickle in it and a cup of cheese missing my hot dog and my fries. It's now 7:37 and I'm still waiting and my order is incorrect. Who just orders a cup of cheese and a pickle and a tomato. I left there at 8:03 finally with my hot dog and fries“
