“Have lived in Chicago for 21/2 years now, and this has to be the best burger in town! I would even go as far as saying the best chopped salad in town! If you’re looking for a weekend lunch or a weekday dinner spot with great atmosphere, food, and cocktails, look no further!“
“The food was absolutely excellent. I wish they offered a bread basket of just the jalapeño biscuits. So good! We had the Japanese eggplant, sortalini pasta, sourdough bread, flank steak and the cookies and cream cake. Every bite was delicious. The seating is very close together, so having a conversation can be a bit challenging. Parking was easy for a Wednesday night.“
“Bartender was very professional and kind. Seating very comfortable. There’s a good din in here, comfortable noise level where seats will be filled but you can hear conversations around your table clear as a bell. Very clean. Cozy. Great canned seltzer.“
“I loved this place, very good food, everyone who served me was so kind. I ate an impossible burger that was delicious accompanied by very crispy potatoes, they have a wide variety of coffees and drinks, and they have different promotions every day.“
“The atmosphere is everything. It's the first date night of 2024, and we're starting this off with a bang. My date invited me to this fantastic rustic, divvy, yet excellent spot in Logan Square called Rootstock. Parking was quite simple. I believe in the wintertime you have to enter through the side. The restaurant/ bar is just the right size, and all the tables are differently styled dining room tables perfect for groups of 4. We went around 6:30 pm, so the different crowd started coming in, but it didn't feel too busy. The menu was simple but had a variety of wine and beer options. I went for an old fashioned to start and date got the wine. She was raving about the burger, so I had to see for myself. I have to admit it was by far one of the best cooked-to-perfection burgers I've had in a good while. My only critique is the sweet pickles; I would prefer dill. The fries were also great. For dessert, we started with an apple crumble, which we quickly found out wasn't for us. We thought the top was cream cheese or icing, only to realize it was some cut of cheese that didn't sit right without taste buds. It was more savory than sweet. Our waiter was accommodating and switched us to the chocolate cake, which was a significant improvement. It was just the right amount of sweetness, but depending on your relationship with oil, you may or may not be a fan of the spread of the plate. Overall, it was a great first experience. That burger alone was worth my evening. Great conversation, food, and a relaxed atmosphere are worth your Thursday night. 4 1/2 out of 5“
“One of the best smash burgers in Chicago. The price is reasonable. It’s a small restaurant so expect a wait. The only downside we experience is that it took a while to get our food. I do love the convenient bill-splitting process during payment.“
“Great beer, board games available and atmosphere. However if you would please turn the heat on it would be most appreciated. It's odd to still be in jacket and scarf while indoors and still chilled. Great place in the summer but maybe their heats broken Jan 15,2024.“
“Super fun joint. A lot of good vibes and reasons to hang around. The food, overall, was tasty, but the pizza left some to be desired. You can tell they put great care and detail into every decision. The pizza just didn't do it for me. Could've been the bold claim of "best cheese pizza in Chicago." I appreciate the bravado, but unfortunately, it came with little fanfare.“
“We visited Sleeping Village Saturday night after getting dinner at Warlord. The bar has a spacious, open seating concept that is great for large groups. The oak paneling, decorative records, and eclectic curios of the bar are reminiscent of a music hobbyist's household from the 80s.To drink you will have an abundance of draft beer options. There will be some intriguing flavors that you are not likely to find elsewhere. The music venue in the back is a unique feature of this establishment. It's a small venue that allows local artists to effectively showcase their skills. I thought it was a great place to have a drink with friends on a weekend.Really excited to go back during the spring and summer when there is a change to take advantage of the outdoor patio.“
“My first time trying this place was for lunch today and it was such a good experience! The host was very welcoming and kind, and so was my server. I tried a blueberry bourbon drink that was amazing, and had a bowl of the chili mac that was even better. I had a lovely time and can’t wait to come back!“
“Beer spot with around 20 beers on draft. They don't sell food, only a few snacks but You can bring your own food, play some games or to go there for trivia. Very cosy place with a good selection of can beers ( around 200). Cool place to hang out with some friends on afternoon or evening . Highly recommend “
“Amazing! The food, drinks and happy hour prices are a 10/10. The decor, music and wall art gave the place overall great vibes. My boyfriend and I spent a couple of hours here just drinking and eating, it was great. The only thing I would add is, the place was busy when we got there, so service was slow. I think our waitress was taking care of the whole place. I understand completely so will not be deducting a star. Overall amazing experience, will be returning!“
“So good! Served up food for 5 people to go in about 20 minutes and every person was super happy with their food! Our favorite place in the neighborhood. Update: still the best place in the neighborhood. Update 2: still our fave, Burger of the week this week (2/8/24) was SO GOOD!“
“I've been knows the number of times and I've always liked it. They've done a lot building out the rear space and that's nice to have expanded area because it was a little bit tight before. They have a stage in the main area which allows them to have entertainment.“
“Food was wonderful! Had the lamb chop and it was awesome! Got medium spice which was plenty! Nice vibe here. Music was cool. Highly recommend making a reservation as the only seat at the bar area was only open for 30 minutes. I will definitely come back here! Don't recommend sitting at last seat by bar as I got bumped in to a few times. Excellent menu!!“
“I already love Spilt Milk for their moody atmosphere, unique cocktails, and knowledgeable bartenders so I was pleased to be able to have them as a venue for my 30th birthday party. Anthony the owner and Charles of Umamicue were professional and communicative throughout the planning process, and during the event the entire staff were fun, interactive, and incredibly attentive and helpful. They helped make an unforgettable birthday for myself and my guests. Would highly recommend reaching out to them for your next event :)“
“Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Been going here ever since their first day but not as frequently as imagined. They definitely have some unique beers as well as fun events throughout the years, one notably was an outdoor hip hop concert with Twista, Big Boi and Sleepy Brown, which was 1yr post-COVID. Recently went for their whopping 10 year anniversary (Fri 12/15/23) and the beers were absolutely and generously flowing. They opened up the back for a nice 80s cover band concert and also had pop up food and wine vendors. Videos here of that night. Whether for an event or not, this brewery is worth coming back to again and again.“
“They have great outdoor seating and a large menu for both food and drink. The service was a little slow as it seemed they only had one waitress who was waiting on the entire outdoor section, but that isn’t enough to make me not come back to this neighborhood spot.“
“Amazing place, but staff seemed angry, especially one particular person (irritable, cursing/yelling in front of customers about personal matters, etc. - maybe just a bad day). Prices too high but probably worth the ambiance. Aside from that I'd fully recommend.“
“The food was delicious, my husband loved the burritos and the slaw. Also, I don't know the name of the person who served us today. But there were quite a few people and he was alone, with one person in the kitchen, he still kindly served us all, thank you very much for that.“
“This place is within walking distance from my house, so I decided to check it out tonight. The menu is small but the food was good and it was quite busy when we left. I took my daughter, who is 16. It was fine for her, but I wouldn't recommend taking a younger child there.“
“Visited Sojourn Restaurant for brunch in Chicago, IL, and it was a delightful experience! The smash burger I ordered was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. They let me add a poached egg, too! The live music added a fantastic ambiance, creating a perfect Sunday morning vibe. The staff was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall positive atmosphere. Can't wait to return for another memorable meal at Sojourn!“
“The chicken sandwich is a favorite!! Mary is a great cook. Don't sleep on the food here. If Mary's cooking - get it! Also, she does some great game day specials - nachos, etc. Good snacks. Good beefs, good sausages, and the best chicken mozzarella bacon sandwich on a hoagie.“
“Beer On The Wall is a true beer lover's paradise, boasting an extensive selection of beer varieties that left me in awe. The moment I walked in, I was struck by the sheer diversity of options available. What particularly thrilled me was their remarkable collection of sours, especially the smoothie sours. It's a rarity to find such a wide range of sour beers, and Beer On The Wall exceeded my expectations in this regard. What sets this place apart is not only the diversity of beer but also the emphasis on local breweries. Their dedication to featuring local craft breweries adds an authentic and community-driven touch to the experience. It's a fantastic opportunity to explore and support the talent of the region while enjoying some of the best sours, including my personal favorite, smoothie sours.Whether you're a beer connoisseur or just looking to expand your palate, Beer On The Wall is the place to be. Their extensive selection and focus on local breweries make it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a unique and flavorful beer experience.“
“I have passed the Laschet's Inn sign about a thousand times in my life and it took a few friends that started working there for me to finally visit - and boy am I glad I did. This bar / restaurant has great German Cuisine. If you came in with a few friends or your favorite flavor of the week, a few food items off the menu aughta do the trick. There is an assortment of bier by the draft & the bottle that will leave you with a desire to try them all.The staff are really super friendly with a trve vibe.Bonus points if you come in on a night when the owner is bartending because he'll give you all sorts of info on the drafts they have in rotation. If this place isn't on a list of things to do in Chicago, it should be.“
“This isn't just a pizza place—it's a weekly tradition, everything about this spot keeps me coming back time and time again. What sets Pizza Lobo apart is its commitment to excellence. The drinks are superb, with a carefully curated selection of craft beers and cocktails that perfectly complement the bold flavors of their unique pizza slices. But it's not just the food and drinks that keep me coming back—it's the ambience. The cozy yet vibrant atmosphere makes the perfect spot to unwind after a long day, catch up with friends, or simply go out on your own. It’s a cherished part of Andersonville, a place for great food, drinks, and company.“
“I'm so glad G's is back open! The whole vibe of the place has changed. Make sure you stop by to see Esther on Wed or Fri. She makes the whole experience better! From having a expert knowledge of drinks to her warm and welcoming personality, she makes your night! It's a lively and colrful feel and the patio is out of this world!“
“This is pur absolute favorite spot in Evanston. I've met one of my best friends here, just drinking lovely wine and frozen cocktails. This woman owned buisness is friendly to everyone, with great service and wonderful chill atmosphere.“
“I did not have a neighborhood bar before The Double, and I have not had one since. Henry is the man--lots of fun and good at making sure newbies and regular customers are taken care of. One of my all-time favorite memories at The Double was watching the Blackhawks win the Cup in 2013. More typically, my brother, friends and I would drink good beer and enjoy the atmosphere and head-nodding music.“
“Navigator Taproom hosted our company holiday party and it was everything we could have asked for and more. Ben was the most accommodating, most friendly, most patient person and his staff was just as awesome. What a great space... tons of drinks (beer, wine, cocktails, N/A options) on tap, tons of board games, great music, great people. Big shoutout to Navigator for letting us crash and for making our holiday shindig epic! Cheers!“
“This place is a hidden gem! My absolute favorite spot in the area for a late night hang if you want a dive vibe that's somewhat energetic as well. The bartenders are all great and make amazing cocktails - they make a hell of a dirty martini! - and the ambiance is cozy but not at all sleepy. I love spending and ending my nights at Star Bar.“
“Awesome experience. We were there on a Sunday night and the place felt cozy and inviting, the drinks were excellent, and the service was good. Their house cocktails are pretty reasonably priced as well! $12-13 instead of the $15-20 you might find at comparable bars in West Loop.“
“Awesome neighborhood bar in Roscoe! My wife and daughter wanted to visit a bookstore, so my son and I visited here just two doors down. It was pretty busy for 3 pm, but we got a hi top table and placed our orders right away. We had a couple of Old Styles, and I tried the Krombacher pilsner. It was the beer of the month and very good. My wife and daughter joined us about an hour later and had a couple of drinks. This seemed to be a less expensive bar than most we visited in Chicago. That's always a good thing! Service was outstanding! I can't get over these beautiful Chicago bars. Long and narrow. Awesome architecture. Perfect setup here at Village Tap! Will definitely try and make it back here on our next visit to Chicago.“
“This place feels like more of a bar than a coffeehouse but it’s cool that they do both. Dark walls, dark wood furniture, comfy chairs in back, nice art for sale on the walls, low volume blues/rock music, decent coffee, nice barista. Only a couple people here but it was late morning. If you’re looking for a quiet cup of jo this could be your place.“
“Alberto, Nazz, and our server Vitto gave us the absolute best first time experience here for brunch this past Sunday!!! Alberto set up an extra table for us to just have some outdoor seating and Vitto couldnt have done a better or friendlier job being our server. 100% recommend and cant wait to come “
“Me and my friends were looking for a last min place! When I tell you we found a freaking gem! Gabby was amazing she sent us shots called chocolate cake!!!!! She literally told us it would be a science experience in our mouth … when I tell you it didn’t disappoint at all!!! We will be back everytime …. A gem I tell you :) thank you for welcoming us with open arms and taking care of me and my friends… forever customers on this Thursdays night“
“Conveniently located coffee shop and cafe right in front of the Jefferson blue line train. The food is really great quality and tasty we tried the bagel sandwich and the breakfast burrito. The interior design and decor is warm and inviting. The only downside is the parking (street) sometimes is difficult. The coffee is also great, the place is small but gives you an elevated coffee and food experience.“
“God, I love me some dive bars, more so when they're located in centralized locations i.e. on a major street, sandwiched between two train stops. The Harding Tavern is so much more than your average dive bar, though. With dine-in seating, you have premium beer/cocktail options on top of meals fit for any type of day. Their tap options are stacked, in my opinion. They have a rotating 'pint of the month' that highlights an alluring $5 price tag. Special mention, these guys have Goose Island Bourbon County stout on tap, which, to me, is incredible. I'm never in the market to buy a full bottle of one of these drinks, so a 10 oz pour is just right. The tavern itself is pretty compact, with the bar area located in the middle of everything, so it's pretty easy to get a tender's attention. Service is always prompt no matter the time of day. Brunch deals are available with their complimentary mimosas with a brunch entree purchased and a $38 package deal that includes a bottle of bubbly + OJ. I think the THT is a solid option to grab a drink in Logan Square. Great to bring some friends, to bring a first date, or to just grab a drink and watch a sports ball game alone. No judgment! Its accessibility alone to the NW side of the city is reason enough to check this bar out.“
“Chicago's hidden gem bar, that also has an amazing patio. This is the place that Billy Joey was thinking about when he wrote Piano Man, except that is always 9 o'clock on a Saturday here. Amazing bar, amazing atmosphere, amazing service. You can't go wrong here.“
“While on vacation, we visited for a few rounds. The staff are perfect, their recommendations were on point. They definitely understood the assignment. The beer selection on tap is not vast but covers all categories with great selections. Look forward to returning.“
“Food was excellent as always. Service was fine, not bad, not great... just a little slow, but it was a busy night. It took a little while to order. It took a little while to get our check. Our server was very sweet and professional, timing was just off, that's all. Our apps came out at the same time as our entrees, which was a little unexpected... but again, it's fine, glad we were at a table because we needed the space. Ultimately will go back for the great food at reasonable prices.“
