“Was getting gas and saw this joint figure I'll check'em out. After looking at the menu real quick noticed the Spicy AF Double Cheeseburger so went with that. Bro this burger was phenomenal and definitely was spicy af too. The burger was messy, with grilled onion, cheesy spicy habanero ghost jack cheese, spicy mayo, and pickles. 9.2. I wasn't expecting a burger with mad flavor like this but is a well above-average burger. Got some fried pickles too they were decent nothing crazy here 7.5. Overall was impressed and I'll be back when I'm out this way. 8.7.“

Everything was fresh, hot and tasty and the employees were polite and provided good service. My only complaint, the big ugly squeaky Styrofoam box my food was served in. “I’m a recent transplant from NC and sent my husband here because we are in the middle of moving and the last thing I wanted to do was cook. This food was AMAZING! I had the fish, Mac and cheese, collards, stuffing. The best fried fish I HAVE EVER HAD. It tasted home-made. Everything was fresh and good and I’d have taken a picture but I was too busy stuffing my face! My husband said the lady behind the counter was super sweet and offered suggestions and he (who does not eat fish!) ate half my fish!! The portions are HUGE for the price and I will be returning. “It was a little after 9:00pm on a Saturday, when I spotted this J & J Restaurant. I went inside to place my order and was immediately impressed by its cleanliness. The floor, tables/seats, counters and the food preparation area...all very clean.The young woman that took my order was friendly and courteous. There was only one person ahead of me, however, some people had phoned in their orders, so there was a waiting period. I didn't mind because the time went so quickly. Also, unlike other J & J's, this one has a drive-thru.I ordered 3 dinners to go; a small jack salmon, a small ocean perch and a 6 pc. chicken wing dinner. Extras included an order of fried okra, hush puppies and a corn on the cob (a full size ear). Each dinner included:French fries, a very small cup of coleslaw and 2 slices of white bread in addition to the mild and hot sauce they provide.The fish was fried to perfection, light and crispy, not greasy. The chicken was also fried to perfection, crispy and not hard or greasy. All the side dishes were well prepared. Since none of us eats coleslaw or white bread, I can't speak about them.As for being different, in addition to its drive-thru, this J & J offers a variety of foods that I've never seen offered in any of the others; tacos, spaghetti, and a selection of salads, just to name a few.“

The food came out piping hot, the portions were HUGE, and everything was well seasoned. Being from Louisiana I have high standards about food (TASTE in particular) and honestly everything was delicious. I was very pleased with the size of the oxtail. They were big, meaty pieces and the gravy was so good. My wife loved the flavor on the shrimp and grits and said the yams were some of the best she’s had. Everything was reasonably priced and honestly we had a great experience. Looking forward to bringing my family here when they visit.“

I got a pound of Alaskan King crab legs, and while they didn’t come with crab crackers, we only had a little trouble breaking the meat out. Phenomenal crab legs. They came with perfectly seasoned red potatoes and corn on the cob. My partner ordered (fried) shrimp tacos and could not stop raving about them. The shrimp was very fresh. We also ordered fresh cut fries and they were outstanding, though they could use a bit more seasoning. But extra seasoning was brought upon request. The owner, Shawn, brought out the food, was attentive to our needs, and even struck up a friendly conversation as we left. “This black family owned restaurant at 81st and Stony is GREAT! I had a cheeseburger w/everything and their freshly cut fries that hit the spot after a long day in Chi traffic. Be sure to get their special BBQ sauce. I put it on my cheeseburger and it made it perfect. They have veg./vegan and beyond meat options on the menu. Everything is so fresh! “We arrived here after an overnight stay at the water park. My granddaughter had worked up an appetite and she wanted some Salmon. They didn’t have Salmon but they had catfish. We got a catfish dinner and a grilled wing dinner greens, yams, Mac and cheese. The catfish and greens were fantastic. She gave me a thumbs up, she ate two servings of greens and both fillets of catfish.
