“I took my boys here on a Saturday at around 4:30 after a trip to the Volo museum. We were immediately greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable and attentive waitress. The appetizer plate had the best onion rings and these creamy smoky bacon Gouda Mac n cheese bites that were to die for! Pan pizza came out as a deep dish and my teenager loved it. My oldest and I got the rib and broasted chicken combo…. OMG No regrets! The chicken was seasoned well with a delicious, crispy, light breading and the ribs were fall off the bone scrumptious with a perfect smoky/sweet bbq sauce. Do NOT skip the peach cobbler!! The warm, crispy peaches and streusel topping tasted like it was made with love. What a great place and we absolutely love our server. She was engaging and knew the menu. Will definitely return!“

“We did the charcuterie class with Liz and it was AMAZING! Before we joined the class, we got wine and some appetizers and it was so amazing. Liz was a great server. She was personable and kind. My mom and I had an amazing time learning how to make our own charcuterie. It was a great girls night with good food and GREAT charcuterie. Thank you Liz and Lexi!!! “Had the opportunty to stop in at the hidden Max-Boyd-s Hideout in Antioch recently, interesting place, decor and experience.

Located in Antioch, but off the beaten path, literally. a few blocks off of Grass Lake Road is the Hideout, not far away from any of the Chain of Lakes.

Weathered and worn, like a old leather jacket, if you are looking for an old school tavern style place, you should stop in.

Bring cash only, or use their ATM, indulge in their beer or drink selection while seated at the bar, table or play a Slot machine.

I enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich-fries or chips, which was delicious and flavorful.
I see they have ribs, burgers, fish frys and prime rib selections as well available.

The prohibition, Al Capone theme is a nice touch as well. Test your sense of adventure and stop in.“

“Best gastropub in the area. The ambiance is absolutely perfect in the Firkin. The lighting, decor and staff makes every visit memorable. They have a great selections of beer and cocktails they offer. Their calamari is delicious and they have a good selection of shareable plates. As for dinner, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I've never had a bad meal. It is very obvious the owners put a lot of thought every aspect, from every dish served down to the beautiful artwork on the walls.“

“We had such a blast ice skating at top shelf!! Was hesitant at first because of overcrowding but it seriously was perfect!! Price was so fair and the food was surprisingly fantastic. Typically we play it safe with the BOGO Double Butter Burger Deluxe burgers w/o bread but tonite we were feeling like a change of pace so I took a chance a called to what other GF options we had. Olivia was an absolute rock star and knew all the answers to my gluten free questions. She spoke to me on the phone and then assisted with my additional questions once I was onsite to order. “No Wake continues to be a favorite spot of ours. We are always sat quickly, and the service is super friendly. Location is great on the Fox River, and the food is great too! Menu is large with plenty of options for everyone. We have tried multiple appetizers and sandwiches/wraps and enjoyed them all. My husband is a huge fan of the burger which you can tell is made with fresh quality meat. Plenty of seating options inside but we especially enjoy the patio. Bonus points for allowing your pup outside and their own doggy menu is a cute touch.“

The smoked turkey, too often an afterthought at lesser establishments, was moist, flavorful, and subtly infused with smoke—no small feat. Cocktails rounded out the evening, each one thoughtfully mixed and balanced, adding a polished touch to the rustic fare. If there’s one shortcoming, it’s the setting. The restaurant occupies a strip mall space that, while perfectly functional, lacks the atmosphere its food deserves. The interior and seating are serviceable but uninspired—a missed opportunity to extend the warmth and authenticity of the menu into the design. A bit more “smokehouse soul” in the decor would bring the full experience together. Still, those quibbles fade with the first bite of those ribs. BBQ'd Productions remains one of the best spots around for great smoked meats and hearty, satisfying meals—now with service that finally matches the kitchen’s skill.“
