“We visited this establishment for Chicago black restaurants week. According to my partner the fried chicken was phenomenal. The moist cornbread was not sweet with actual corn niblets - which i can appreciate. But the star was the mushroom and grits. I love a good savory vegetarian option. The mushroom had a very nice flavor. I hope this is an actual dish on their standard menu. The atmosphere was warm and would be beautiful during the summer months in Chicago.“

“Perfect place to go before seeing Shakespeare. Highly recommend the hush puppies and Mac & cheese. Laura was an excellent server. Also, if you’re seeing the play, you get 20% off the meal which basically covers the gratuity. The meal was also very reasonably priced. Great spot all around and we would definitely come back next time we are in town“
“Arrived with a party of 4 on an unusually busy day (Sunday at 7pm), started to regret not making a reservation. No tables available and asked the cashier if we needed to order and then sit down as it wasn't clear if there were waiters who would take our order at the table. The cashier told me that if we wanted to dine in we would need to join the waitlist until there was an open seat for us. Fine, we waited. Come back after getting the call there was space for us, and we all wait in line to be seated. Another staff member came up and instructed us to sit. We watch as all tables start clearing out and wonder when and if the waiter would arrive. Probably sat there for about 20 minutes and went up to the counter where the same cashier told us that we needed to order, then sit down. Then why didn’t you tell us that when we were told to sit at the table?! Whatever, at this point we order and just wait. Food takes about 20 minutes and it is clear that everything was made fresh. The person who was cleaning tables (and also possibly the owner?) saved the meal by being extremely warm, kind and attentive to what we needed. He even reminded us about our deserts and helped our friend order waffles to go! These were the best waffles I’ve had ever-and the chicken was crisp and flavorful. But the beignets were the most memorable, having them freshly fried was life changing.I would recommend this place, but would ask that the staff be better about communicating the process. I am sure there are other instances of people walking out because they get frustrated not knowing what is going on. We are definitely going back to try Luella’s brunch!“
“Just delightful! Got in last minute for Mardi Gras. More than "just another Cajun place". Had wonderful smokey jambalaya, alligator and collards. Place was packed but one of the owners came by to apologize for sitting us on the counter by the door to the kitchen. Loved watching and smelling the food come together and told him. Really can't say enough about this place.“
“I always love Ina Mae's because of the atmosphere and brunch music. Chicken and pancakes are always a hit, but this time they only had chicken strips instead of wings (not a big deal whatsoever). Our server had zero personality and seemed like he hated his job, but other than that everything was great. Will be back again.“
“I decided to bring my hubby to Lady May's for a pre-celebratory graduation dinner and the decision DID NOT disappoint. Food was amazing, ambiance was giving what it was supposed to for such an intimate moment. The staff were attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, will be returning“
“This place is rare gem. They play their house music on a record player and have a great selection of vinyl. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Rob took great care of us and was personable and attentive. They have a nice menu with a good mix of comfort food and some healthyish options as well. Their food is cooked in a small open air kitchen and it is well done and tasty. It is also reasonably priced as well. We had the brussel sprouts, the 3 piece chicken dinner that comes with greens and grits and one their burgers. Everything was awesome, like everything we ate. We will definitely be back to hang out in the evening for a drink and listen to some cool music with cool people.“
“I came here with a group of friends late after already eating breakfast here. The food is absolutely amazing. However when ordering food our first friend, by mistake, ordered to-go and we were told by the hostess we all had to order to-go. Our second friend tried to change and the hostess was insistent that we all had to order to-go. We all continued to wait to receive our orders in a delayed series and some ate while in store. Again food was amazing. We were told next time we should order in, we notified the new waitress we tried to change and the original hostess said that never happened. Either way food was great, hostess wasn’t. She also told a friend of mine to order the fries instead of the Mac & Cheese since in her opinion the Mac isn’t that good, Mac & Cheese is amazing. To each their own. Great food, not impressed by the hostess. Waitress was great.“

“First time at Yardbird and the experience was great. Went there for my birthday dinner. Food and service was good. Our server was Rudy. He was friendly, timely, and offered suggestions. Music was a little loud but overall a great atmosphere“
“It's certainly nothing much to look at from the outside, and the interior isn't much to write home about, either. But for a Humboldt Park hole in the wall, the food is good, particularly the roast chicken, you get a lot of it, it's a decent price, the service is fast and the small place is cozy. It feels like real, pure, good Chicago. I was happy I stopped in.“

“Delicious sandwiches at a great price point! I have tried their sandwich combo with fries and a drink a couple of times and have never been disappointed. Their banana pudding is also pretty good.The staff at this location is also super friendly and fast in getting your food to you. Worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood!“
“Visited for the first time and we did carry out. WOW!!!!!!!! My taste buds haven't been this happy for a long time. We ordered online for a 7 pm pickup and got there exactly on time. My wife was in and out of the store so fast, I didn't even have time to turn the car off. We got home and I did a quick reheat of the hush puppies and chicken wings as it's about a twenty minute ride home. I didn't want to take a chance reheating the shrimp and oysters we got, so as not to overcook, and actually, they were just fine without doing so. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I just wanted to lick whatever sauce was left off the plate! The shrimp were delectable! Absolutely perfectly cooked. Next time, and there will certainly be a next time, we will eat there.“
