“It's not much to look at and you might be tempted to drive on by but stop in! This is a complete local bar that serves some of the best pizzas ever. Very small inside, a local bar with about 6 tables. The service was great and quick. Orders piled in quickly and were out quickly given only one person cooking. Ordered a 9" sausage pizza and it was loaded. Loaded with sausage and cheese! There's a reason they say the best pizza around. I couldn't even finish it, so the rest went back with me to the hotel for a late night snack. If you can get by the look's outside and muster the courage to go in and order...You wont regret it. If pizza is not your thing they do have normal bar food and drinks that I hear are great as well. The pizza and a beer cost just over $10. I'll be back hopefully soon to enjoy this pizza again. Love the local stuff!!”

“Always delicious! It’s one of my favorite spots to grab lunch with my daughter. We both love the tofu bowls, with vegan Yummy Sauce —and the secret? Get extra of that delicious adobo sauce—it bangs the entire bowl up a whole new level. The owner and staff is super friendly, we always enjoy!”

“This is a somewhat hidden place in Highland. Unless you're a local you've probably never heard about it and how to get there. It's nearly disguised as a house since it's on a residential street which borders the business district. But either way, it's a great hidden gem. It's a great senior citizen's place, as they are open during certain hours. And in 2024, they will only accept cash - not that it's a bad thing. They do have a great menu, and some may say the food is not top quality. But the prices are very reasonable, whether you're coming here for breakfast and lunch. Service is great as well. Lots of Highland history on display too.”

“I'm writing this as I'm enjoying the rest of the quiche I took home today. I went for breakfast and had the most amazing bacon, cheese, leek, onion quiche. I loved it so much I wanted to know if I could buy whole ones instead of a slice with sides, and they happily accommodated. Not kidding, best quiche I've had in my life. 5 stars”

“Delicious food and friendly service. I was impressed by the variety of the food menu, everything sounded amazing. I couldn't resist the lunch special with the Reuben sandwich. It was delicious. “5 stars at lunchtime. 2 stars for dinner. I've enjoyed multiple lunches here, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Food is on point, and the service is excellent! I'd bring my wife and kids. Dinner here was a different story. (Im talking 5pm). They cranked the music up too high. The service was terrible, but the food was still great (except the errors the waitress made). Won't bring wife and kids again for dinner.”

“I love this coffee shop for Highland. They serve Starbucks coffee but aren't a Starbucks. They are locally and independently owned. Staff is nice, and they'll bring your drinks right to you. I ordered a hot chocolate for a child and they asked if I wanted it at a lower temperature, which I thought was super thoughtful and kind. I also like the feel of the place, which is modern-cozy.”

“Quaint little coffee shop that also happens to be part of the Southern IL coffee trail, which is how I found out about it. In checking out their FB page, I saw them mention a gingerbread latte, so I made the drive. When I got there, they didn't have their holiday menu out yet, but the staff was happy to make my GBL anyway, so that was much appreciated. For people like me who prefer to make their coffee more like a dessert, they have lots of different flavored lattes on their menu. I also had a breakfast burrito, which was fine. If you're not familiar with the area, your GPS will probably lie to you about the location. It's right next to the visitors center, with a good sized parking lot. Not a bad coffee option if you happen to be in the area.”

“We have been coming to City Scoops for many years now and it is consistently yummy. Their ice cream is very rich and creamy and they are always testing out new flavors. They also provide family games like Connect 4, which we really enjoy playing while we eat our ice cream. My son recently got the bananas foster ice cream and oh my was it good! It perfectly captured that flambéed flavor. My other sons prefer the vanilla and Elsa flavors while my fiancé loves their strawberry shakes! The service is always friendly and the interior is clean, bright, and welcoming. City Scoops is always a family fave!”
