“Heard good things but our experience exceeded expectations! We came on a Friday night around 5 and it was already packed, which they said was normal for weekends. Even so, we were seated right away and had extremely attentive service. The back room we were in was a little loud, but that’s because so many people were enjoying themselves. My partner said the food reminded him of the Mexican in California. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. We can’t wait to go back!”

“This is a somewhat hidden place in Highland. Unless you're a local you've probably never heard about it and how to get there. It's nearly disguised as a house since it's on a residential street which borders the business district. But either way, it's a great hidden gem. It's a great senior citizen's place, as they are open during certain hours. And in 2024, they will only accept cash - not that it's a bad thing. They do have a great menu, and some may say the food is not top quality. But the prices are very reasonable, whether you're coming here for breakfast and lunch. Service is great as well. Lots of Highland history on display too.”

“Wow! Wonderful pastries! Great service! Only wish they made cronuts but bakeries in this area do not. Best bakery to go to & I live 20 miles from this business. Have also tasted their cakes & cupcakes at many weddings I have attended. It is very clear why the bride and groom chose this bakery! Taste is beyond delicious.”

“Wow! This was our first time at Popeyes and there were 8 of us celebrating my in-laws 40th wedding anniversary! Chuck was our server and everything was absolutely incredible. The service, atmosphere & food far exceeded my expectations. We had onion rings and crab cakes as an appetizer. Both were some of the best we've ever had. The bread and salads were fantastic as well. Steaks, pork chops and fried chicken were all to die for. Because we were celebrating an anniversary, two slices of cheesecake were brought out & were SO good! I can't wait to go back!!Kid-friendliness: Kids menu was extensive- both kiddos (ages 11 & 9) loved the appetizers & their meals!”

“Visiting from out of town and wanted a place to watch the Nuggets game. We stopped in and Dani(sp?) immediately put it on for us! He was super friendly and really went above and beyond for our group. The customer service was great and our appetizers were delicious! I loved it so much I wanted to know if I could buy whole ones instead of a slice with sides, and they happily accommodated. Not kidding, best quiche I've had in my life. 5 stars”

Best onion rings - I usually stay away from rings as I find them too greasy and tasteless. These were the opposite. Homemade, crispy, sweet onions balanced with lightly salted crust - Perfect!”

“I love this coffee shop for Highland. They serve Starbucks coffee but aren't a Starbucks. They are locally and independently owned. Staff is nice, and they'll bring your drinks right to you. I ordered a hot chocolate for a child and they asked if I wanted it at a lower temperature, which I thought was super thoughtful and kind. I also like the feel of the place, which is modern-cozy.”

“Quaint little coffee shop that also happens to be part of the Southern IL coffee trail, which is how I found out about it. In checking out their FB page, I saw them mention a gingerbread latte, so I made the drive. When I got there, they didn't have their holiday menu out yet, but the staff was happy to make my GBL anyway, so that was much appreciated. For people like me who prefer to make their coffee more like a dessert, they have lots of different flavored lattes on their menu. I also had a breakfast burrito, which was fine. If you're not familiar with the area, your GPS will probably lie to you about the location. It's right next to the visitors center, with a good sized parking lot. Not a bad coffee option if you happen to be in the area.”

“I ordered a very large order for National Coffee with an Officer day. They made me 20 drinks in 15 min! A wonderful experience from order to pick up! I enjoy the iced caramelicous and I actually also love the everything bagel sandwiches as well!”

“It's not much to look at and you might be tempted to drive on by but stop in! This is a complete local bar that serves some of the best pizzas ever. Very small inside, a local bar with about 6 tables. The service was great and quick. Orders piled in quickly and were out quickly given only one person cooking. Ordered a 9" sausage pizza and it was loaded. Loaded with sausage and cheese! There's a reason they say the best pizza around. I couldn't even finish it, so the rest went back with me to the hotel for a late night snack. If you can get by the look's outside and muster the courage to go in and order...You wont regret it. If pizza is not your thing they do have normal bar food and drinks that I hear are great as well. The pizza and a beer cost just over $10. I'll be back hopefully soon to enjoy this pizza again. Love the local stuff!!”

“I think they stole my Grandma! This place is outstanding and as close to home cooking you can get. This was my first visit and I plan to go back. The white gravy was outstanding and complimented the country fried steak. The fries were perfectly cooked and the coleslaw was very tasty. I was also able to try my girlfriend's French dip that she was unable to finish. It, too, was fantastic even a day later!I beg, beg, beg for you to add fried okra.See you next time.”
