“We needed a place to stay close to the Concord music hall, and found the Leavitt St. Inn and Tavern. Every element of our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. The menu at the inn was a purposefully short, curated list of bar food, and everything we tried was incredible. The tavern had a great neighborhood feel, and the room we stayed in was well-appointed, and just right for my wife and me. We met the owners within a few moments of arriving, and immediately felt welcomed. I highly recommend the Leavitt St. Inn and Tavern to anyone looking for a hidden gem of a place to stay while visiting Chicago. “I recently had the pleasure of dining again at Gaia's Italiano Ristorante and it was an excellent gastronomic experience. Owned by a Sicilian native, this restaurant promises authentic Italian flavors, and it certainly delivers. To start, we indulged in the bruschetta which was a burst of freshness, with ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fragrant basil atop perfectly toasted bread. We also had the homemade tender meatballs paired with a rich marinara sauce that had just the right balance of tanginess and herbs. One of the highlights of the evening was the Cacio E Pepe prepared right in front of us in a Parmesan cheese wheel. The creamy pasta infused with the sharpness of Parmesan was a true delight for the senses. Moving on to the mains, the salmone alla griglia was impeccably cooked, paired with a side of perfectly grilled vegetables. The pork chops were another standout, juicy and flavorful, showcasing the expertise of the kitchen. To round off the evening, we couldn't resist trying the cheesecake with raspberry sauce for dessert, ending the meal on a high note. What truly elevated the dining experience was the outstanding service. Attentive and knowledgeable staff as, Executive Chef and owner Maurizio guided us through each course, enhancing our enjoyment of each dish.“

“I did not have a neighborhood bar before The Double, and I have not had one since. Henry is the man--lots of fun and good at making sure newbies and regular customers are taken care of. One of my all-time favorite memories at The Double was watching the Blackhawks win the Cup in 2013. More typically, my brother, friends and I would drink good beer and enjoy the atmosphere and head-nodding music.“

“We ordered a variety of dishes, including the Kerala Fish Curry, Goan Fish Curry, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Lamb Shank. The standout dishes for me were the Lamb Shank and Kerala Fish Curry. The lamb shank was tender and flavorful, and the Kerala Fish Curry was rich and creamy, thanks to the generous use of coconut milk. It paired perfectly with the bowl of rice served on the side.We also enjoyed the Lamb Chops appetizer, which came with four juicy pieces that were full of flavor. However, I did find that the Lamb Rogan Josh and Goan Fish Curry sauces tasted somewhat similar, with a tangy flavor that didn't quite live up to my expectations.As a Keralite who loves fish curries, I must say that the Kerala Fish Curry at Kama Restaurant didn't quite measure up to the authentic flavors I'm used to back home. However, the flavors were still good, and I appreciated the effort to recreate this traditional dish.We also had several drinks, and I highly recommend the Cloud Nine and Weekend Getaway cocktails. They were expertly crafted and delicious.However, there were a few issues with our order. The Lamb Rogan Josh initially came with chicken instead of lamb, which was a mistake. But our server was quick to rectify the situation and ensured that the correct dish was sent out promptly.Additionally, the atmosphere in the restaurant became quite smoky towards the end of the evening, which I assume was due to kitchen smoke. This caused my eyes to burn a bit, so I hope the restaurant can find a way to improve ventilation in the future.Overall, I would still recommend Kama Restaurant to fans of Indian cuisine. The service was friendly, and the food was mostly delicious. With a few tweaks to address the minor issues I mentioned, I think this restaurant could be truly exceptional.“

“This place is a hidden gem! My absolute favorite spot in the area for a late night hang if you want a dive vibe that's somewhat energetic as well. The bartenders are all great and make amazing cocktails - they make a hell of a dirty martini! - and the ambiance is cozy but not at all sleepy. I love spending and ending my nights at Star Bar.“
