Wonderful Carribean cuisine in downtown Waukegan. Charming, open atmosphere and Great food! We had the traditional chicken (or pork) with rice and beans. Delicious, and empanadas are terrific. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We look forward to making this a favored spot for lunch.
Best Empanadas I’ve ever had. And I’m not just saying that. 5 ⭐️ s. Wonderful family owned business. Highly recommend!

El Patio Café & Lounge is a brand new restaurant in downtown Waukegan. The Cafe is clean on the inside and the vibe is very nice. Guests feel very welcome and at home. The hostess is very professional and smiles when greeting guests at the table, checks on them, and provides great conversation. There is a lot of food for an affordable price. The special of the day is simply delicious, with roasted pork flavored just right, juicy and tender, dominican rice with pigeons peas, and a salad with house vinger dressing. The fried plantains were not for everyone. The coffee, food, and lovely experience make this a recommended spot. The baristas, cooks, and servers are very welcoming and kind. The music is soft and relaxing to match the venue and space. The empenada is a must-try. The atmosphere is immaculate, affordable, and delicious, with a bicycle you can pedal to mix a drink. It is a lovely spot with kind people and easy parking. The Dominican food does not disappoint, with generous portions. The mangú con los tres golpes, tostones con salami, and empanadas are super delicious. The morir soñando drink is a must order, refreshing and perfectly balanced. The Carribean cuisine is wonderful, with a charming, open atmosphere and great food. The traditional chicken (or pork) with rice and beans is delicious, and the empanadas are terrific. The staff is very friendly and attentive, making this a favored spot for lunch.
