“This review is not specific to the Willowbrook Portillo's. It is for the entire chain. Portillo's is a Chicagoland icon. Starting with a humble hotdog stand, Frank Portillo built an empire, with 95 locations across the USA. While they all have the same menu, they are all unique in their decor and atmosphere. Usually, the restaurants have a Chicago theme; gangsters from the '30s & '40s, rock and roll, moonshine, or sports; plus, music to match.

Now, the food. Hotdogs,Burgers, Italian Beef, Salads, and Pasta dishes are the specialties of the house, and Portillo's has perfected them. Everything is made to order and cooked to perfection. Place your order at the counter and 5 to 10 minutes later, you have a meal that will ensure you that you must return to try something else from the menu. Or, like me, you can come back over and over to get one of two things: a burger with onion rings, or a big dish of rigatoni with meat sauce.

Now, all that being said, if you go, you have to save room for dessert. Portillo's makes THE best chocolate cake on the planet. And they give you a huge slice of it. I usually eat half and save the rest for another day. If you don't like eating cake, 1) I feel sorry for you, and 2) you can get the famous Portillo's Chocolate Cake Shake. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like; a milk shake with a whole slice of chocolate cake blended into it. My daughter absolutely loves it.

So, if you are visiting the Chicago metro area, make it a point to visit a Portillo's restaurant. If you live in the Chicago metro area, why are you Rea ding this? You already know...“

“I would have to agree with the positive reviews that this Italian beef is the real deal. Someone said this was salty but I’m pretty sure she just made up stuff. The bread was not stale, it was fresh. They gave me a lot of sweet peppers and meat. I had it dipped. The meat was juicy and tender. I could have eaten two of these but I wasn’t sure how big it was. I also got a chili cheese dog. It was good but not as memorable as the beef. I would have to come back and try the cheesy Italian beef and Italian sausage. They have one single person restroom and a good amount of seats. I came at night so most of the orders were takeout. The staff was friendly.“

“I came in tonight and was excited because I’ve been craving a jrito crunch and have been for about 3 years and my buddy Carl told all his fb friends that owner is a previous franchisee of jrs and they have the chil ito which is this same xact indgredients (yes same chili and cheese and same chips as jrito everything was phenomenal came from Thornton which is about a half hour plus drive. So so worth the drive I refused to touch anything til I got home so I could enjoy that first bite. Thank you to the owners for preserving the beautiful food of your past establishment only to bring it to your new establishment! Everything was phenomenal!!!“

“Don't let the overall look of this place fool you It might seem like an out of place small almost empty restaurant right next to the sidewalk, But the food is delicious, Very friendly staff of 2 at the moment. It was my First time going I had a hot dog meal with fries and a drink Hot dog was delicious. Fries surprised me VERY delicious home made fries, food was good The price was great. Service was very fast in and out within about a minute well worth a stop, I am looking forward to trying out some of their other menu items 🤤 my one and only complaint if I had one is that there is no porking available for them at the moment 😭“

“Very good hotdogs and fries. The fries are hand cut and fried without a timer. This does cause some fries to be over cooked. Yet, most of the fries are delicious. Not sure when they changed the hot dogs, but they are longer. Still good and have a snap. All the condiments were great.“

I came before they were closing and he took care of me , I absolutely love JJ Fish & Chicken! Every time I go, I order the chicken tenders, and they are always fresh, hot, and perfectly seasoned. It’s hard to find a spot that consistently delivers great food and service, but JJ Fish & Chicken nails it every time. “My 5 star review is entirely in part due to the customer service from Sam/ Phil. We arrived and explained to Sam that we previously had a negative experience but that it was a while ago and we hadn’t had a chance to come back sooner. But we were told to come in and explain that we spoke to Phil and we’d be taken care of. Sam went to the back so speak with Phil on the matter of course and when he returned he took complete care of us, no questions. We bought the large sized Beef Combo with an Italian sausage in the beef.
The sandwich was longer hence the large size, but the sausage was still the smaller regular size.
I don't feel like I got my money's worth for these two sandwiches.
I wont be getting the larger size here again.“

“The food is tasty but I was shocked by the quantity of meat in my gyros plate. It was just a gyros sandwich in a container with fries and fixings. Everywhere else I get a gyros plate it has enough meat for 2 or 3 sandwiches.the subs seemed to be lacking meat as well. Again first time getting it there and was just surprised.“

Got double cheeseburger, all the way combo for just over $18. I little pricey but I dined in to take advantage of the peanuts and free refills. Man, the burger is as tasty as I remember it. My advice, always eat in instead of taking it home. It’ll always be better. Fries were tasty and the peanuts make a tasty treat while you wait for your order. Definitely not inexpensive but the no place is anymore and the quality will always outclass any drive thru.“
