Passed up on the fast food options and gave this diner a try. Good flavor and good quality. I chuckled to myself and thought looks like I have enough leftovers to eat for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. Excellent waitress and the cook knew what he was doing. He even visited with me to make sure everything was to my liking. I will be back!
Country Kitchen, the no-frills eatery at Cloverdale Travel Plaza, is a fine example of a classic diner in Middle America. My advice when dining at one of these establishments is to get breakfast or country fried steak because they are usually top notch. This morning's meal was no exception. I ordered country fried steak with a side of grits with cheese and was gifted a slice of bacon from the hubs. The grits were cooked perfectly and only needed a pinch of salt. Decent stop. Service was fast and friendly, prices were "cheap eats", and the food choices were terrific. The omelet was very meaty, and hashbrowns and toast were also good. No complaints, will gladly stop again if hungry and nearby.
