“I haven't lived in Elwood for very long. My mother wanted breakfast, but she didn't want to dine in. I didn't want fast food so I googled local restaurants. Friendly's was first on the list.I called and they could quickly prepare breakfast to go. My mother ordered pancakes with added sausage patties. I ordered a full order of biscuits and gravy.As I initially entered the restaurant, I saw several signs stating they only accepted cash, debit and credit weren't welcome. Hopped back in the van to find an ATM. Returned for our food.The lady behind the counter was talkative and friendly. They were about 1/2 full and everyone seemed to be happy and sociable. Great atmosphere.My mother enjoyed her breakfast and was filled before she could finish. I was quite disappointed with my biscuits and gravy. The gravy looked great and was a good consistency. However, it had far too much pepper. The biscuits were rather small. They tasted good but were a bit dry. I tried a few more bites of mostly biscuit with as little gravy as I could get. Still far too peppery. Inedible. Definitely not happy.Parking: The parking lot is rather small. Some spaces are placed in a way that cars have to be extremely careful not to back into other cars.”

“On a friend's recommendation, the hubby and I checked out their All-You-Can-Eat Fish, and it was delicious! I especially loved the hush puppies. The fried fish and shrimp were really good, too!”

“The food is so good and seasoned to perfection! They never fail on the flavor or portions. They also catered my sons open house and everyone loved the baked beans! I also ordered some burger patties from the website and they cooked up so well.”

“First time here. Very friendly staff! Excellent portion size for the price! Super fast service! Mouth wateringly good food!The dining area is a bit small, which isn't innately a problem. However a family of 7 (3 adults and 4 children) were spread out over 3 of the 5 tables. They were finishing their food when I arrived and stayed to socialize with themselves thru most of my meal. So be prepared to take your order to-go in case you encounter an inconsiderate family like this.”

“I went out of my way to go to this place. I was NOT disappointed. An old style diner and the service was perfect. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with an egg on top. I would give this sandwich a 10. It is a smash burger cooked perfect and the bacon was done and the bun was soft and fresh. The egg was moist and not overdone. This is the best burger that I have had in a long time.”

“We really liked the pizza. I took a little bit for it to be made but it was great. I wish they still had the wings that were on their online menu but I guess they quit serving them.”

“Working on homes in town,I got a little tingle in my belly,I googled food to see what's aroundsomething other than peanut butter and jelly,The Tin Plate popped up,I decided to give it a tryjust an urge, I reckon,I can't tell you why,So I ordered the tenderloin,The waitress asked "do you want a extra bun"?I looked at her with excitement as I answered"how big IS it hun"?She showed me a couple sitting close byas a lady carried fries,then on a cart, a tenderloin came,i have to tell ya, my life, never the same.You must stop in, give it a try,there's so much loin, it'll make you cry.I'll be back.”

“I got the meatball sub. It was coiked well, had toppings I requested, service was slow! I wanted to just take over to get my order faster. Staff gossiping and this slowed down service. Store was clean, plenty of parking.”

“Phenomenal shrimp lo mein. The mother daughter team there is so cute. The culture and how much they differ to us is remarkable. I couldn't imagine going there and trying to live. Takes more than guts that's for sure. The lil girl was sweet as could be and made an awesome shrimp lo mein!!”

“SAVANNA AND BRITTANY WERE FRIENDLY AND QUICK AND READY FOR MY ORDER. THEY LISTENED UNTIL I FINISHED AND WERE PATIENT WITH ME. MY FOOD AND DRINKS WERE SERVED QUICKLY BACK TO ME , BEFORE MY CARD AND RECEIPT. ALL OF MY 3 MEALS WERE CORRECT, HOT AND TASTY! THEY WERE DOING GREAT AND GAVE GOOD SERVICE WITH A SMILE!THANKS FOR OUR FAST DINNER TONIGHT TO THE ELWOOD CREW!”

“Food was surprisingly very good. There was a good selection of food. Food trays had covers that helped hold the heat in, but was a little inconvenient to see the food and transfer the food to your plate. Service was good.”

“Classic taste! Never fails to please. the Big Homer is our go to and it is absolutely delicious. the side items are better than any in fast food. YOU will NOT be disappointed. Did I mention everyone there is always friendly?”
