“Fun place nice to look at and had stuff for children. burger was decent. Brisket was far from good terrible even. Waitress was distracted by other things. Worth a quick bite but I would t recommend spending too much. 2 tables around is sent food back and took 10 minutes to try and get a dessert ended up paying and leaving.“

Donna had fried chicken with a side salad and German potatoes. We both enjoyed our meals and look forward to going back soon.“

“Only place open on a Monday for lunch around, so we figured we would check it out since they re-opened. The place looks great, service was fantastic. Going back some time for the Thursday Steak sandwich lunch special. Glad they brought it back. Wife's chili was spot on. Only issue was they need to hand patty the burgers and stop putting seasoning on them. 10.99 for a Dewig stamped patty with some VERY salty seasoning. We will stop in some Saturday to check out the prime rib. They get an added credit for actually having Country Bob's sauce on each table instead of having to ask for it.“

Our drinks weren't empty, she was polite, friendly, we received a perfect order(and we had a few changes), attentive, and we didn't have to wait for our order to be taken. I ordered the cheeseburger served on a fajita plate, with cheese as a base. It has a name, thatbI obviously forgot, BUT the important fact is that whomever cooked that beast, cooked it PERFECTLY! I unexpectedly had one of the best cheeseburgers I have ever eaten. I expected what I always get, but this thing was the perfect temperature, perfect amount of every ingredient, and the damn thing had been in the oven as well as cooked on the griddle and it was still perfect. That wasn't Applebee's, that was the kitchen! My business partner and I had had a very long day, and our short time here was very, surprisingly, enjoyable. Kudos to the crew!“

“Came to this restaurant to have an after funeral dinner, 6/21/2023 4pm. Where we were met with wait staff making nasty/rude comments about coming in as a big group. The waitress we had was stuck serving the big group by herself as the rest of the wait staff stood and watched even though the rest of the restaurant was empty (only 1 other table). Our waitress said she would be back to receive the rest of the orders for our table, then forgot them. When reminded the waitress got rude "I'm doing the best I can" and threw her hands in the air. Then said "it's not my fault they came in late". The staff is very unprofessional. No management to be seen, unsure as to why the store was aloud to be ran like this. I am really unimpressed, which is sad. This was our first time eating inside and to be treated like that after losing a loved one isn't the way to be towards customers. I will not be back.“

“Haub's Steak House in Haubstadt, Indiana, has been a beloved landmark in southern Indiana for over 50 years. After a challenging period, the restaurant is now under new ownership with the Alston family, experienced restaurateurs in the Gibson County area.

I stopped in tonight while in the area and was thrilled to experience the warm hospitality and outstanding food quality that I hadn’t seen here in the years since the Haley family owned it. From the inviting and knowledgeable hostess (an Alston family member) to the actual attentive bartender working behind the bar, the entire staff seemed genuinely happy I was there. The last few years, that kind of genuine service was absent, but it used to be the standard at Haub’s, and it feels great to see it return.

The restaurant still brings back wonderful memories, and I’m delighted it’s now in much better hands. The food is excellent without being pretentious. My steak was sizable and perfectly prepared, the sides were spot-on, and every dish showed real care in its execution. Their signature fried mushrooms appetizer is truly unique — unlike any I’ve had anywhere else in the world. Honestly, it is worth the drive to go there for those alone!

My personal favorites include:
* The incredible fried mushrooms
* The Delmonico steak
* The German fries
* And, when I’m in the mood for dessert, the warm pecan pie served with homemade vanilla ice cream (get it warmed — you won’t regret it!)

You’ll leave full, satisfied, and already planning your next visit. Haub’s Steak House is being revived, and I, for one, am genuinely excited about it! I think you will be, too!“

Hashbrowns were near raw, inedible.
Biscuits and gravy was average.
